    **Corteva Agriscience** is searching for an experienced **U.S. Patent Agent** . This is a highly visible, key role in the Corteva Legal function, within the Crop Protection Intellectual Property group. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative team while independently managing critical IP responsibilities for Corteva. An individual well-suited to this position will exhibit vision, integrity, commitment, leadership, self-motivation, maturity, strong communication skills and good judgment. Work within the Crop Protection Intellectual Property group will be within one or more subject matter areas including disease management (fungicides), insect management (insecticides), weed management (herbicides), or biologicals.

     

    Primary Responsibilities - How will you help us Grow!

     

    + Patent drafting.

    + Global patent prosecution.

    + Initiating and managing worldwide administrative patent proceedings.

    + Collaborating to develop global IP strategies.

    + Coordinating with scientists on invention development.

    + Managing IP strategy team meetings and processes.

    + Educating scientists and business colleagues on IP strategy and procedure.

    + Overall activities expected to be about 75% patent drafting and prosecution, depending on client needs.

     

    Experience and Education – What you'll bring to the table!

     

    + Bachelor's degree and strong background in chemistry or closely related technology.

    + U.S. Patent Agent Registration in good standing.

    + Minimum of 3 years of experience in drafting and/or prosecuting chemical patent applications.

    + Experience working with foreign associates to assist and coordinate filing and prosecution of international patent matters.

    + Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal direction.

    + Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to prioritize projects and meet aggressive deadlines.

    + Strong collaboration, communication and writing skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Advanced (M.S. or Ph.D.) degree with focus on organic chemistry and/or organic synthesis experience.

    + Experience drafting and prosecuting agricultural or life sciences chemical patent applications.

    + Post-graduate R&D laboratory experience.

    + Law firm and/or corporate legal department experience.

    + Independent preparation and filing of 15+ priority patent applications within the past 3 years.

    + Experience with independently prosecuting large patent dockets with responsibility for preparing U.S. Office Action responses and sending prosecution instructions to foreign patent agents.

    + Experience with developing and implementing IP strategies to support existing and planned products.
