8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday – Friday)
*A flexible work schedule may be approved with up to two days remote work per week
Salary Range: Hourly from $25.67 to $37.26; Annually from $53,599 to $77,799* _Salary placement is dependent on education and experience_

THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT
The TRIO Student Support Services Success Coach at Normandale Community College serves as a member of a professional team providing comprehensive and proactive academic, financial, career, and transfer advising services to increase persistence, completion and transfer success for students who are first-generation, low-income, and/or have a disability. More specifically, this position will focus on advising and programming targeted for TRIO SSS students studying in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and the health sciences in compliance with a new TRIO SSS/ STEM and health sciences grant. TRIO SSS/ STEM and health science programming will include designing and implementing academic workshops, facilitating “tech talks”, organizing and chaperoning student visits to four-year institutions and various industries in the STEM and health science fields. The TRIO SSS Student Success Coach maintains a caseload of assigned participants and delivers consistent monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on participants' academic progress. Work of the TRIO Student Support Services Success Coach contributes to and serves as a model for eliminating educational equity gaps and developing a more culturally competent, service-oriented institutional culture. TRIO SSS Student Success Coaches work collaboratively with student affairs departments, faculty and administration to meet the strategic goals of the department, division and institution.
This position will actively advance the college’s strategic goals, including to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
_Essential:_
+ Bachelor’s Degree
+ One year of full-time experience working with traditionally underrepresented populations providing culturally responsive support to students of color, first-generation students, and/or low-income students.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) that will be interviewed for
+ Demonstrated intercultural competency sufficient to successfully interact, communicate, and establish ongoing professional relationship with students and family, or other support relations, from diverse and traditionally underrepresented populations.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate complex ideas or policies, presentation skills to effectively represent and promote the program and college.
+ Ability to set job priorities, use analytical reasoning, and determine alternatives to problems facing students
+ Experience working with a wide variety of student needs including referrals to internal and external resources.
+ Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
+ Personal computing/technology skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office software; experience with and comfort utilizing multiple types of technology to provide advising services, such as a CRM.
+ Ability to comply with federal TRIO SSS regulations and guidance.
_Preferred:_
+ Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, or related field.
+ Three or more years professional experience working with students in higher education
+ Fluency in Somali, Arabic, Hmong or Spanish.
+ On-going professional development in intercultural competence and equity.
+ Experience teaching post secondary credit courses.
+ Demonstrated experience advising students in a science, health, or related-field (e.g. Biology, Public Health, Health Sciences, STEM education)
