    Hours: 35- FT M-F Flexible

    Rate of Pay: $20.00

    OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This is a split position working in the care management program with adults receiving care management services, as well as children/families receiving care management services.

    As the peer working with adults, the responsibilities include the following:

    + Work with individuals who are receiving care management services.

    + Work collaboratively with the care managers who are providing services to enrolled members.

     

    The Peer Specialist will use their lived experience of recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges to support, mentor, and empower individuals on their own recovery journeys. The peer provides hope, advocacy, and guidance through shared experiences, helping others develop skills, and achieve personal goals toward wellness, stability, and independence. Provide peer support by sharing lived experience with behavioral health and substance use recovery to inspire hope and demonstrate that recovery is possible.

    As the children/and family transition specialist, the responsibilities include the following:

    + Work with families and children who are in need of care management services.

    + Assist children in applying and receiving “Family of One” Medicaid, which would otherwise be denied due to their parents' income or resources.

    + Connect the child (and family) to community resources and additional services.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:

    + Knowledge of behavioral health systems, other health systems, and community resources.

    + Strong communication and active listening skills.

    + Ability to build trusting relationships with families, children, and adult individuals.

    + Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    + Strong problem-solving and advocacy skills to help individuals/families navigate complex systems.

    + Cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity.

    + Dependability, professionalism, and ability to maintain healthy boundaries.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    + High school diploma or equivalent required.

    + Certification as a Peer Specialist / Peer Advocate (or eligibility/willingness to obtain certification within a required timeframe).

    + Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery, and willingness to share that experience in a professional, supportive manner.

    + Bilingual preferred.
