Job Summary and Qualifications

Under general supervision the Staff RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Medical Center of Lewisville. In collaboration with patient, patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN is responsible for assessing the nursing care needs of patients, planning interventions and evaluating outcomes of care. The RN provides direct care and/or supervises nursing care of LVN’s and non-licensed nursing staff. The RN is responsible for providing care consistent with the Nursing Department’s policies, procedures and standards of practice.

RN’s are responsible for providing care, which is appropriate to the age specific (adolescent, adult and geriatric patients), developmental and safety needs of the assigned patient population. In addition to the RN duties and responsibilities, the RN scope includes charge duties. The charge nurse makes patient assignments and supervises and directs the staff and unit activities for the assigned shift.

+ Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.

+ Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.

+ Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

+ Manages evidence-based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures and enhance the exceptional care provided to patients.

+ Manages the quality of care by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes and supports recovery.

+ PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

+ ·All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.·Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.·Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.·During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).·Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.·Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.·Seasonal Staff willnotbe eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND or D2/ECD)·Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.·Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligibleto join the Seasonal program for 2025--26 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.·Current employees of HWS arenot eligiblefor the seasonal program.·Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

+ (RN) Registered Nurse

+ Associate Degree

+ +1 year experience of acute care
