NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.
DOF’s Sheriff’s Office serves and enforces court mandates, orders of protection, warrants, decrees, and property seizures. Additionally, the Sheriff’s Office conducts criminal investigations of real property fraud, tax crimes, and the trafficking of illegal and untaxed tobacco products and synthetic narcotics, and monitors defendants referred by the courts for electronic monitoring.
The Investigator will serve as the primary liaison between the NYC Sheriff's Office and NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA), ensuring that all case-related information is accurate, up to date, and processed in a timely manner. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage sensitive information while providing reliable statistical and investigative reports to leadership.
Duties and responsibilities include the following:
-Collects, verifies, and maintains up to date information from HRA to support timely case processing.
-Maintains and updates files, orders, and databases to ensure the accuracy and availability of case records.
-Tracks and compiles data to produce comprehensive reports for the Sheriff and First Deputy upon request.
-Reports results of investigations clearly and accurately.
-Utilizes computer systems to assist with the processing, tracking, and analysis of investigations.
-Examines and analyzes records and documents to identify relevant information and potential discrepancies.
-Performs tasks such as answering phones, filing, and organizing documentation to support the office's operations.

Qualifications
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and two years of satisfactory, full-time experience as an investigator evaluating credit worthiness, searching for assets, verifying information concerning education, experience, and other personal qualifications bearing upon character and fitness for employment; or performing investigations involving the research, compilation and/or location of evidence or information in order to build a case or uncover activities of a criminal, corrupt, unlawful or unethical nature; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Undergraduate college credit can be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits, from an accredited college, for one year of full-time experience. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
