**_Trinity Health Oakland_** is a beautiful full-service, 304-bed acute care hospital, located in Livonia, MI, that provides comprehensive care, including a 24-hour emergency department, general medicine, inpatient and outpatient surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, intensive care unit, cancer, cardiology, geriatrics and birthing and women's health. Through several major expansions in the hospital, programs and services, Trinity Health Oakland continues to offer the latest in quality health and medical services. Commitment of four 12-hour shifts per month.
Department - 5 South, Oncology Unit
SUMMARY:
The Contingent Nurse Extern functions as a collaborative member of the health care team in partnership with and under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Utilizing principles of Relationship-based Care, performs basic direct patient care to a specific group of patients. Actively supports the activities of the unit-based shared governance council. Promotes organizational commitment and excellence in the patient care experience, and in compliance with the standards of professional behavior within nursing.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND** **CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Education/ Experience:
+ Currently attending and in good standing at an accredited school of nursing.
+ Must maintain continuous "active" student status. Must have successfully completed two (2) clinical nursing rotations, of which one was a Medical/Surgical rotation.
Certification/Licensure
+ Current BLS (Basic Life Support Certification) certification.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
+ Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age specific needs
+ Interpersonal skills necessary to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
+ Critical thinking skills necessary to perform principal duties and responsibilities of job description.
+ Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing patient care.
