Overview
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics is home to the largest laboratory in NH, providing Pathology and Clinical Laboratory services to DHMC & Clinics physician practices, Dartmouth Health system member hospitals, as well as to independent practices and hospitals throughout NH and VT. TheGenetic Counselor, as a part of theLab-Molecular Pathology team, collaborates with clinicians and Clinical Laboratory Scientists to guide test selection, communicate results, and support quality, regulatory, and research efforts within the lab.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week on-site position working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Flexibility in working hours is required.
Responsibilities
* Acts as a liaison between the lab and the clinical teams
* Identifies and coordinates genetic laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies for the genetic assessment and assists in classifying variant pathogenicity based on ACMG Guidelines, as well as assists in drafting accurate and meaningful clinical reports for our patients.
* Participates in ongoing research activities of the program and the development of department protocols, with data entry and management of the departmental and research databases.
* Participates in the teaching of residents, medical students, genetic counseling students, and other students.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned.
* Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or the equivalent in education and experience required.
* Excellent communication skills required.
* Board certification/eligibility in Genetic Counseling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and Medical Genetics required.
* Licensed Genetic Counselor in the state of New Hampshire.
Qualifications
* Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or the equivalent in education and experience required.

Required Licensure/Certifications
- Licensed Genetic Counselor NH OR Temp Lic Gen Counselor NH within 14 days
- Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) OR Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC-ABMGG) within 1095 days
- If certified Genetic counselor prior to 1991, certification from the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics required
