Job Summary
The Reliability Engineer, Truck Service ensures the dependability, availability, and optimal performance of TA’s fleet and service equipment. This role applies reliability engineering principles to proactively identify risks, reduce unplanned downtime, and drive operational excellence. Aligned with BP’s OMS and the Believe in Zero safety philosophy, the Reliability Engineer partners with technical, operations, procurement, and safety teams to implement data‑driven maintenance strategies, support fleet customers, and enhance long‑term asset performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reliability Strategy & Risk Management
+ Develop and execute Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategies to maximize uptime and asset lifecycle performance.
+ Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify failure modes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
+ Ensure compliance with OMS standards, TS SOPs, and corporate safety protocols across reliability initiatives.
+ Embed TA’s and BP’s Believe in Zero safety philosophy into daily practices, prioritizing risk reduction and barrier effectiveness.
Data** **‑** **Driven Insights & Performance Improvement
+ Establish and monitor reliability metrics, KPIs, and dashboards across Truck Service operations.
+ Use statistical methods and predictive analytics to forecast failures and evaluate reliability trends.
+ Partner with Technical Training to improve maintenance quality and technician proficiency.
+ Analyze unscheduled maintenance patterns and warranty claims to identify cost‑saving opportunities for fleet customers.
Fleet & Technology Optimization
+ Lead projects that implement new technologies, processes, or tools to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.
+ Assess regulatory impacts and design changes on Class 8 engines, trailers, and service equipment to ensure future readiness.
+ Partner with Procurement and Vendor Management to incorporate reliability criteria into vendor performance and asset selection.
Shop Tooling & Safety Equipment Oversight
+ Prepare and maintain reliability reports, analyses, standard work, and procedures.
+ Provide technical training, coaching, and support on reliability best practices.
+ Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and methodologies (RCM, FMEA, RCA) to ensure best‑in‑class practices.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
+ MTBF / MTTR
+ Unplanned downtime (% and hours) and first‑fix rate
+ PM-to-CM ratio and schedule compliance
+ Warranty recovery and cost avoidance/savings
+ Safety incident rate related to equipment failures
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related), or equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years in reliability engineering, fleet maintenance, or related field (transportation/logistics preferred).
+ Working knowledge of reliability methodologies (FMEA, RCM, RCA).
+ Proficiency with data analysis/visualization tools and advanced Excel; experience with EAM/CMMS preferred.
+ Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills; ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
+ Professional certification (e.g., CRE, CMRP).
+ Experience with predictive technologies (vibration, thermography, oil analysis) and reliability statistics.
+ Hands‑on exposure to Class 8 powertrain, trailer systems, and service equipment.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office, and web-based applications.
+ Ability to work flexible schedules and travel as needed to support field operations.
+ Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range
$100,000.00 - 115,000.00 - A pay range listed reflects the potential pay for this role. The pay will depend on various factors, such as responsibilities of the position, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Not all positions posted will have a pay range listed.

Typical Physical Demands
This role involves regular communication and engagement with cross-functional partners, senior leadership, and field teams. The employee is continuously sitting and typing, frequently talking, and using eye-hand coordination. The position may also require climbing or balancing, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling on occasion. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Standing, walking, bending, and repetitive use of legs occur occasionally.
Work Environment
The work is primarily performed in an office setting with occasional visits to shop environments. These visits may involve exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions, diesel fumes, mechanical noise, moving parts, and vibration. Contact with grease, oil, cleaning agents, and other substances typical of a commercial vehicle repair facility may occur. Proper safety protocols and personal protective equipment will be provided and are required during site visits.
