    Job Title:Assistant Professor, Research Track

     

    Position Summary:The Assistant Professor on the Research Track will focus primarily on conducting original research in their field, securing research funding, and advancing knowledge through publications, presentations, and collaborations. This role emphasizes research and scholarship activities, with additional responsibilities in mentorship and institutional service. The Assistant Professor is expected to contribute to the institution's research goals by developing a robust research program, mentoring students and trainees, and engaging in collaborative projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Research and Scholarship

     

    + Develop and lead a research program that advances knowledge within the specific field.

    + Design and conduct high-quality research studies, utilizing appropriate methodologies and maintaining ethical research practices.

    + Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present research at national and international conferences.

    + Collaborate with other faculty, researchers, and institutions to develop multidisciplinary research initiatives.

     

    Grant Acquisition and Management

     

    + Seek and secure external funding from federal agencies, foundations, and other sources to support research activities.

    + Manage research grants and budgets, ensuring compliance with funding agency requirements.

    + Prepare and submit grant proposals, including required reports and documentation.

     

    Mentorship and Training

     

    + Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other trainees in research methods, project design, and academic writing.

    + Provide guidance on professional development for mentees, including career planning and research skill-building.

    + Involve students and trainees in research projects to foster a hands-on learning environment.

     

    Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Work

     

    + Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations within the department, university, or other research institutions.

    + Contribute to the development of collaborative projects and leverage shared resources to enhance research productivity.

    + Actively participate in collaborative research networks to further institutional research goals.

     

    Institutional Service and Leadership

     

    + Serve on departmental or institutional committees as requested.

    + Contribute to strategic research planning within the department or school.

    + Participate in peer review processes, including manuscript and grant review, as well as serving on advisory or review panels.

    Qualifications:

    + Education: PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in a relevant research area.

    + Experience: Demonstrated record of research experience, including a strong publication history. Previous experience with grant writing and funding acquisition is preferred.

    + Skills: Expertise in research design, data analysis, and scientific communication. Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills. Ability to work effectively in collaborative research environments.

     

    Reporting Structure:Reports to the Department Chair, Division Chief, or Research Director (or as specified by the institution).
