    Job Description

    As a Construction Inspector, you will primarily work on projects that require construction-related inspections. You will ensure the quality and adherence to building code requirements, construction drawings, and project specifications. This role involves conducting inspections across multiple disciplines, including structural steel, concrete, masonry, and fireproofing. Your responsibilities will include visual and physical inspections, as well as field testing to verify compliance with plans and specifications. You will prepare inspection reports, document observations and material testing, and communicate findings to engineers or project managers. Collaboration with the project team on potential issues and adherence to strict safety standards is expected.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed, following specified procedures.

    + Read and interpret construction drawings and document findings clearly.

    + Conduct basic data analysis to verify accuracy before submitting to the Project Manager.

    + Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.

    + Draft inspection reports for review by senior inspectors or Project Managers.

    + Assist more senior inspectors on projects when needed.

    + Maintain equipment and ensure proper calibration.

    + Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent.

    + Follow safety rules, practices, and perform pre-task planning.

    + Report any safety issues or concerns to the person responsible for maintaining quality standards.

    Essential Skills

    + High school diploma or equivalent.

    + Minimum 2-4 years of experience as an Engineering Technician or other applicable experience.

    + 1 year of experience in construction inspection preferred.

    + Valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history.

    + Experience in inspection, structural steel, and construction inspection.

    + Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.

    + NICET Level II certification in Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils).

    + NICET Level II certification in Geotechnical (Construction, Laboratory, Exploration, Generalist).

    + ICC certification (Reinforced Concrete, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Prestressed/Post-Tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel – Bolting, Structural Steel – Welding).

    + American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).

    + American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification (Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT)).

    + ACI certification in Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade.

    Work Environment

    This role involves 90% fieldwork, traveling in a company vehicle to various sites around the greater Portland area.     This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, Oregon.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00/hr.
