Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
This role involves working with overhead cranes and hoists within the Nuclear Equipment and Services sector. The position encompasses a range of engineering tasks such as creating schematics with CAD, generating Bills of Material, designing new assemblies and part drawings, programming PLCs and HMIs, performing field startups and tests, working with 480VAC, and tuning and commissioning motors using VFDs. Additionally, it involves creating loading calculations, sizing wiring, and laying out conduit and wire routing schedules. This job requires travel to customer sites.
Responsibilities
+ Create schematics and drawings using CAD software.
+ Generate Bills of Material and create new assemblies and part drawings.
+ Program PLCs and HMIs, and perform field startups and tests.
+ Work with 480VAC and tune and commission motors using VFDs.
+ Create loading calculations and size wiring.
+ Lay out conduit and wire routing schedules.
+ Travel to customer sites for on-site tasks.
+ Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines.
+ Work with purchasing to specify parts and with manufacturing to guide wiring assemblies.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in PLC programming and panel design.
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
+ Proficiency in electrical design and programming using AutoCAD Electrical.
+ Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and Rockwell systems.
+ Expertise in PLC, HMI, VFD, and electrical engineering concepts.
+ Ability to work with 480VAC and perform commissioning tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with ladder logic and schematic design.
+ Capability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple designs simultaneously.
+ Ability to climb vertical ladders over 50 feet.
Work Environment
The position involves a mix of approximately 80% office work and 20% field work. The team consists of both mechanical and electrical engineers, with a focus on electrical engineering. The role requires 20% travel and involves working in a fast-paced environment on nuclear and government-regulated projects. The work involves engaging in a variety of design tasks concurrently.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $57.69/hr.
