Job Title: Hardware Configuration Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented technical specialist to support the documentation and review process for hardware and software engineering change notices (ECNs) and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for a highly regulated program. This role involves coordinating with multiple stakeholders and engineers, documenting process paperwork, tracking and updating the ERP system, and providing final review and approval of hardware and software changes before they enter the final formal design.
Responsibilities
+ Track progress of different artifacts through the design, development, and approval stages.
+ Create reports and pull data on progress regularly as required.
+ Monitor part obsolescence and End of Life (EOL) for both hardware and software components.
+ Create and drive strategy for replacement components or mitigating risk of old components.
+ Review and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) and parts lists for accuracy to current baseline designs.
+ Provide write-ups and requirements verification for COTS components selected for use in the design baseline.
+ Collaborate with third-party vendors and parts suppliers as needed for hardware and software parts.
+ Provide oversight into the hardware design review process and act as an approving officer for the final selection and verification of design changes.
+ Provide documentation as required for the review, audit, and approval process for organizational leadership review.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with configuration management for hardware and software systems in product development environments.
+ Experience with change management processes and procedures.
+ Experience working in high-reliability environments such as Defense, DoD, Military, Automotive, Medical Device, Aviation, or Aerospace.
+ Experience with heavy documentation and detail-oriented environments.
+ Experience with Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
+ Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical discipline with 4-8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's level degree with 2-6 years of relevant experience.
+ Experience with configuration management concepts and execution for an engineering product development environment (software or hardware).
+ Experience with data management and documentation management is desirable.
+ Experience with parts management, supplier management, parts review, and working with BOMs is ideal.
+ Process and detail-oriented mindset capable of being the final line of review for documentation accuracy.
Work Environment
Office environment within a stable and fully funded high-reliability program.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.
