    Job Title: Survey CAD Technician

    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated Right-of-Way Designer to join an established civil/survey firm located in Columbus, OH. This position involves working closely with survey field crews to produce CAD drawings and maps using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The role includes preparing and reviewing right-of-way plans, plats, and exhibits to support land acquisition and infrastructure development projects. The projects span local municipalities, ODOT, commercial site development, residential subdivisions, K-12, retail, parks, and more. We are looking for an individual with right-of-way experience utilizing Civil 3D and OpenRoads.

    Responsibilities

    + Design and draft right-of-way plans using CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and OpenRoads.

    + Interpret survey data, legal descriptions, and engineering plans to create accurate right-of-way exhibits.

    + Prepare parcel plats, easement exhibits, and legal descriptions for acquisition and permitting.

    + Coordinate with survey crews to ensure field data aligns with design requirements.

    + Review title reports, deeds, and other property documents to identify existing right-of-way and easements.

    + Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to land acquisition and right-of-way.

    + Assist in preparing documentation for public agencies, utility companies, and property owners.

    + Maintain organized project files and documentation for internal and external review.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and OpenRoads.

    + 2+ years of experience in ODOT right-of-way plan preparation.

    + Experience in right-of-way design and surveys.

     

    Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Degree in civil engineering or related field.

    + Experience performing field surveys is a plus.

    Work Environment

    This role is based 100% in the office. If you have field experience, there may be opportunities to utilize these skills as well. The survey group is rapidly growing, and offers 1-on-1 training with licensed engineers who are committed to advancing your career and skills. We conduct annual performance reviews that may lead to pay increases and bonuses. The team is committed to promoting internally before considering external hires.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, Ohio.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
