Job Title: Construction InspectorJob Description

Join our Construction Management team as a Construction Inspector, where you will be an integral part of delivering Ramboll’s Municipal Water/Wastewater Infrastructure projects. This role involves working 100% in the field, traveling throughout Virginia. You will not report to a local office but will instead visit various project sites each day. You will ensure that construction projects adhere to plans and specifications, supporting the seamless delivery of essential infrastructure.

Responsibilities

+ Inspect and observe construction projects to ensure they are built according to plans and specifications.

+ Identify unforeseen conditions and communicate them to senior supervising construction staff.

+ Maintain accurate field notes and daily reports, tracking schedule progress.

+ Perform basic estimating for projects.

+ Acquire field information to aid in project design.

+ Develop and maintain professional relationships with design divisions, construction contractors, and sub-contractors.

+ Demonstrate skills and judgment for inspecting portions of projects under supervision.

+ Provide guidance to less experienced inspectors.

Essential Skills

+ 1 to 3 years of inspection experience.

+ Experience working on horizontal or civil construction projects.

+ Ability to work fully out of a vehicle without a local office.

+ Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Background in construction, not engineering.

+ Experience with wet utility and wastewater projects.

+ Willingness to travel within Virginia and DC.

Work Environment

This role requires full-time, on-site work throughout Virginia, without reporting to an office. You will be constantly on the road, providing support and inspections directly at project sites. Leadership is based in Chicago, Illinois, but this role is strictly Virginia and DC-based.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
