    Job Title: Electrical Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

     

    As a PCBA/SMT Process Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting our Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing lines. This position offers the unique opportunity to contribute early in the design phase and throughout manufacturing, driving continuous improvement and ensuring manufacturing readiness for complex aerospace and defense electronics.

    Responsibilities

    + Oversee and support all aspects of PCBA and SMT manufacturing lines, ensuring efficient and high-quality production.

    + Develop, document, and implement standard work and manufacturing process documentation for PCBA and SMT equipment.

    + Train operators and technicians on standard work and process documentation.

    + Coordinate the design and procurement of tooling, fixtures, and work aides for PCBA/SMT manufacturing.

    + Review and provide feedback on product designs for manufacturability and process optimization.

    + Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, manufacturing rates, and cost-effectiveness.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve process and equipment issues, utilizing root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.

    + Interface with cross-functional teams, including technicians, quality engineers, inspectors, planners, program managers, and design engineers.

    + Maintain effective communication and support for PCBA/SMT contract manufacturers and suppliers.

    + Create and maintain product structures and routers in ERP systems.

    + Support process validation, configuration management, and compliance with industry standards (IPC, J-STD).

    Essential Skills

    + Strong familiarity with SMT (Surface Mount Technology) equipment, process flows, and troubleshooting.

    + Deep understanding of how SMT manufacturing lines work, including supply chain knowledge.

    + Experience with PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) fill time needs and process input.

    + Knowledge of AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), pick and place, cross shuttle (optional), and flying probe equipment.

    + Ability to operate or program test equipment and understand the requirements for test fixturing and test data organization.

    + Experience with OQA (Outgoing Quality Assurance) product compliance site requirements.

    + Knowledge of PCB assembly, IPC & J-STD specifications, conformal coating, and staking methods.

    + Demonstrated ability to write procedures and strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

    + Familiarity with configuration management practices.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience in electronics manufacturing.

    + 5+ years of experience in PCBA/SMT operations.

    + Experience with SMT equipment setup, operation, and maintenance (e.g., Flying Probe, AOI, X-Ray).

    This is a Contract position based out of Simsbury, Connecticut.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $57.69/hr.
