Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the mechanical design integrity, approach, and profitability of machine design/build projects. You will lead the mechanical design efforts under the direction of a project manager, addressing technical issues and maintaining project budgets and engineering design release schedules.
Responsibilities
+ Obtain project design hours and delivery milestone date objectives for each assigned project while designing a reliable and efficient machine at the lowest cost.
+ Assist the project manager in design concept review meetings to discuss customer specifications and innovative, cost-effective machine design concepts.
+ Break down large project designs into manageable tasks and oversee in-house designers and external design houses, ensuring clear communication of design scope and schedule.
+ Submit detailed mechanical design schedules to the project manager to support detailed project scheduling within one week of project kick-off.
+ Coordinate with the project manager to assign mechanical designers to design tasks and supervise them to meet project schedule milestones.
+ Apply sound design practices to develop hydraulic and pneumatic components, coordinating with controls engineers to order correct electrical components.
+ Oversee engineering tasks sent to external design houses, ensuring written project scope and budget agreements are established beforehand.
+ Regularly communicate and document project status, design completion dates, and any challenges or issues that may impact project success to the project manager and/or engineering manager.
Essential Skills
+ Mechanical engineering expertise
+ Proficiency in Solidworks
+ Experience in custom machine design
+ Project management skills
+ Knowledge of GD&T and welding processes (GTAW, PAW)
+ Experience with laser cutting and automation
+ Familiarity with project engineering and robotics
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
+ 5-10 years of experience in custom machine design, build, and implementation
+ 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering and/or machine design, build, implementation, and startup automation
Work Environment
The work environment includes a machine shop attached to office spaces. It is a clean environment with offices separate from the shop.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $53.00/hr.
