Job Title: Systems EngineerJob Description

Join our dynamic team working within the Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business. We develop, manufacture, and support cutting-edge infrared and electro-optical solutions for soldiers, ground vehicles, and airborne platforms.

Responsibilities

+ Analyze, design, develop, and implement new and existing electro-optic and infrared systems/sub-systems, including architectural design and requirements engineering.

+ Determine system specifications and support the acquisition of hardware, software, or subcontractor services as needed.

+ Drive technology development and ensure completion of activities on time and within budget, leading integration and test activities.

+ Design, develop, analyze, document, and support the testing of products, systems, or subsystems.

+ Complete technical projects independently and mentor other engineers.

+ Review customer specifications and requirements to develop cost-effective designs.

+ Lead major problem resolution efforts and support regaining or attaining customer partner status.

+ Participate in new business capture teams and provide technical expertise.

+ Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.

+ Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements.

+ Analyze designs and oversee product line architecture, ensuring technologies interoperate or connect appropriately.

+ Attend engineering, customer, or business meetings as required.

+ Support business development by developing and presenting new concepts, technologies, or applications.

+ Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.

+ Support program design to cost and design for manufacturing requirements, creating prototypes to mitigate development risks.

+ Communicate effectively with manufacturing, supply chain, program management, and customers.

+ Prepare complex and significant proposals.

+ Provide technical expertise and assistance to engineers and support personnel.

+ Coordinate and confer with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel regarding technical activities and progress.

+ Support and promote the mission, values, and culture of the organization.

Essential Skills

+ 8 to 10 years of experience in Electro-Optics and Infrared Systems.

+ Strong skills in systems, electro-optics, infrared design, and requirements engineering.

+ Proficiency in determining system specifications and acquiring hardware and software.

+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with defense, ground vehicle, and airborne platforms.

+ Capability to lead and mentor engineering teams.

+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Work Environment

Work in a collaborative and innovative environment focused on developing advanced electro-optical and infrared solutions. Engage in regular engineering, customer, and business meetings, and actively support new business pursuits.

This is a Permanent position based out of Melbourne, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $200000.00/yr.

DentalOur Dental plan provides full coverage for preventive care, and comprehensive coverage for basic and major restorative services, and orthodontics. Employees have the flexibility to receive care from in-network or out-of-network providers. The dental plan uses a Delta Dental network.

VisionLeonardo DRS offers the EyeMed vision plan, which covers a range of vision care services, including regular eye exams, glasses and contact lenses.

Pre-tax Spending AccountsThese accounts allow employees to set aside pre-tax dollars through payroll deductions to pay for eligible expenses — while lowering their taxable incomes. We offer a health care flexible spending account (FSA) and, for enrollees in the High Deductible Health Plan, a health savings account (HSA).* Leonardo DRS makes employer contributions to an HSA on an employee’s behalf. A dependent day care FSA is also available.

*A limited purpose FSA (for eligible dental and vision expenses) is available if you enroll in the HSA.

Income ProtectionLeonardo DRS provides company-paid life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, and short-term and long-term disability coverage – all at no cost to you. Supplemental coverage is also available for purchase if employees want additional financial security for themselves and/or their family members.
