Overview:
Responsible for leading the enhancement, implementation, and continued life cycle management of innovative physical security technology solutions across the organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of physical security technologies, risk management, and program development. This leader will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that security technology initiatives align with organizational goals and enhance overall safety and security across the Bank’s portfolio. Assists with development and business justification for the Security Operations Center (SOC)/Fusion Center in partnership with M&T Technology, Crisis Management Team, Corporate Communications, Business Continuity Program Management, and Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence **.**
Primary Responsibilities:
+ Promote the overall mission and project management of the Corporate Security Physical Security Technology program and related initiatives.
+ Drive Corporate Security’s engagement in the development and operationalization of a joint Security Operations Center (SOC) in partnership with M&T Technology.
+ Develop and execute a proactive, comprehensive physical security technology strategy that aligns with organizational objectives.
+ Manage Corporate Security’s physical security technology compliance according to Federal Regulation H and Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
+ Manage the development, implementation and maintenance of the Bank’s Corporate Security Physical Security Technology program’s associated policies, standards and guidelines ensuring alignment with and adherence to regulatory compliance, audit requirements, overall strategy, and organizational needs.
+ Develop and implement a comprehensive visitor access management and accountability strategy for deployment across several corporate locations.
+ Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of physical security technology projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
+ Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of security technology initiatives.
+ Develop and manage the budget for physical security technology initiatives, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising security.
+ Collaborate with risk management teams to integrate security technology into broader organizational risk strategies.
+ Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate security technology solutions.
+ Lead continuous evaluation and selection of physical security technology vendors, integrators and service providers, managing relationships as the Vendor Relationship Owner (VRO) to ensure high-quality service delivery.
+ Lead and mentor a team of security technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
+ Design, implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis while exploring artificial intelligence (AI) implementations.
+ Develop a forward-thinking, reporting plan for a periodic Corporate Security physical security technology summary on industry trends and innovative solutions which will be shared with Corporate Security leadership and Bank leadership.
+ Regularly assess potential physical security technology threats and vulnerabilities within the organization to build and implement a risk mitigation strategy.
+ Maintain excellent rapport and open lines of communication regarding requests for support, service issues, and deliverables.
+ Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
+ Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
+ Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
+ Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
+ Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:
This individual is a member of M&T Bank Corporation’s Corporate Security leadership team and will oversee the continued enhancement and execution of a physical security technology program to mitigate potential threats to the organization’s personnel, equities, assets, and brand reputation. Serves as an intermediary between M&T Tech leadership and staff, M&T Tech Risk Management, M&T Internal Audit, physical security technology integrators and vendors, and regional security personnel to ensure cohesive deployment of innovative solutions across all regions. Travel within the Bank’s footprint required to perform job duties.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
Position will manage a team of physical security technology specialist and/or analysts. (5)
Education and Experience Required:
+ Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years’ relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years’ higher education and/or work experience inclusive of a minimum of 2 years’ corporate security/physical security technology program development, or Security Operations Center (SOC)/Fusion Center development work experience
+ Minimum of 3 years’ managerial, supervisory and/or work leadership experience
+ Demonstrated knowledge of security technology system (hardware and software) deployment as well as identity and access management platforms (Honeywell, HID/ProWatch, MIFARE DESFire) and corporate implementation
+ Demonstrated knowledge of security surveillance and access control equipment
Education and Experience Preferred:
+ Minimum of 10 years’ work experience in computer science, technology, corporate security, or physical security technology program development
+ Prior experience as a Chief Security Officer (CSO), Deputy Chief Security Officer (DCSO), or Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) with responsibility leading a corporate organization’s Physical Security Technology program
+ Prior experience in developing and/or leading an identity and access management program within a corporate environment
+ Prior experience implementing artificial intelligence (AI) into a corporate security technology strategy
+ Prior experience implementing security technology programs across the banking or financial sector
+ Strong ability to active decisively
+ Experience communicating directly and diplomatically with various levels of leadership
+ Experience understanding and analyzing complex business problems and making sound decisions and recommendations
+ Membership in industry associations or certification in a related security field (Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
Physical Requirements:
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $85,104.04 - $141,840.07 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
