Job Title: Product Development Engineer
Job Description
This role offers a blend of technical design, project management, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The engineer is responsible for designing and developing new products, as well as improving existing ones, using 3D engineering software to create detailed drawings, specifications, and prototypes. The position involves guiding manufacturing requirements, performing cost analyses, and conducting feasibility studies to ensure product viability and durability. It requires project management skills to plan, coordinate, and oversee product development projects, working closely with teams across product management, marketing, sales, warranty, and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
+ Design and develop new products and improve existing ones using 3D engineering software.
+ Guide manufacturing requirements and perform cost analyses.
+ Conduct feasibility studies to ensure product viability and durability.
+ Plan, coordinate, and oversee product development projects.
+ Participate in project meetings and design reviews.
+ Collaborate with outside vendors and contractors.
+ Focus on research and innovation, developing new solutions.
+ Stay updated with technological advancements.
+ Prepare and maintain design specifications, test reports, and user manuals.
+ Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
+ Provide technical guidance and support to various internal teams.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
+ Implement and oversee quality control measures.
Essential Skills
+ Product development and design expertise.
+ Experience with manufacturing processes.
+ Strong project management skills including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
+ Proficient in CAD software, with experience in AutoCAD Inventor preferred.
+ 5+ years of experience in product development.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).
+ Experience in developing furniture or related products is a plus.
+ Understanding of component and assembly tolerancing, metal and wood product fabrication, and design for manufacturability.
Work Environment
The role involves working both in an office and in a manufacturing environment. It may require occasional travel to other facilities, vendors, project sites, or for training purposes. The work environment is very collaborative, with flexible hours usually between 8 am-5 pm, allowing for flexibility as long as 40 hours are completed. The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines is essential.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
