    **Title:** MRI Technologist

    **Pay:** $30-40/hr- based on experience level

    A. Basic Purpose and Objective

     

    To perform high-quality MRI exams in compliance with company policies, MRI departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

     

    B. Essential Job Duties

    1. Exam Preparation & Patient Care (55%)

    + Review protocol, exam orders, prior reports, and patient history to determine appropriate exam.

    + Obtain patient consent, review safety screening forms, and administer sedation and/or oral/IV contrast as required.

    + Prepare coils, linens, and exam room; ensure MRI safety standards are followed.

    + Research medical implants, devices, or foreign bodies as needed; document findings in RIS.

    + Obtain outside films, reports, or surgical notes for comparison when necessary.

    + Enter patient demographics and exam details accurately into MRI systems.

    2. Exam Performance & Image Quality (25%)

    + Position patients, select appropriate coils, and administer contrast when required.

    + Provide clear communication and reassurance to patients before, during, and after exams.

    + Ensure adherence to ACR and XRANM imaging protocols, verifying anatomical coverage and image quality.

    + Document all technical notes in RIS and escalate concerns to the Manager, Technical Director, or Radiologist.

    + Train new technologists and assistants as needed.

    3. Quality Assurance & Accreditation (5%)

    + Perform weekly ACR QA; report variances to Field Engineer for immediate resolution.

    + Assist with annual system performance checks and accreditation requirements.

    4. Image Management (5%)

    + Send images to PACS and confirm proper formatting and accessibility.

    + Coordinate CD or film distribution as required by physician courier lists.

    5. Operational Support (10%)

    + Maintain exam room cleanliness and supply levels, including contrast inventory.

    + Monitor MRI equipment and escalate technical issues to appropriate staff.

    + Communicate with physicians, peers, and vendors to ensure workflow efficiency.

    + Provide coverage at other facilities or extend shifts for add-on patients as needed.

    C. Prerequisites

    Education, Experience, and Licensure

    + Licensed MRI Technologist in the State of NM.

    + Certified through ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT.

    + New hires not certified in MRI must pass the registry exam within one year of hire.

    + CPR certification required.

    + IV certification required.

    + Proficiency in Windows operating systems.

    + Bona Fide Occupational Qualification: Candidates cannot have certain non-removable implants.

    D. Essential Functions

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Strong working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, particularly cross-sectional anatomy.

    + Proficiency in MRI system operations, image acquisition, and RIS software.

    + Ability to identify and escalate abnormal findings to the Radiologist.

    + Strong patient care skills, including communication and reassurance.

    + Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced medical environment.

    + Adherence to HIPAA and patient privacy standards.

    Physical & Mental Effort

    + Ability to lift and move patients (minimum 20 lbs).

    + Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and position patients throughout the shift.

    + Must work efficiently under stress and maintain focus with frequent interruptions.

    + Overtime and weekend availability as required.

    Working Conditions

    + Must comply with MRI safety and dress requirements.

    + Possible exposure to cramped working spaces and extended standing periods.

    Human Relations

    + **Internal:** Daily collaboration with physicians, radiologists, and office personnel.

    + **External:** Regular interaction with patients, referring providers, imaging centers, hospitals, vendors, and engineers.

    **Pay Details:** $30.00 to $40.00 per hour
