    Role Overview:

    As a School Health Liaison, you will provide initial onboarding and connect local school health liaisons with ongoing educational opportunities and training. You will organize and facilitate monthly school health liaison education on school health topics and host monthly school health liaison office hours and quarterly meetings as a platform for connecting, sharing, and networking. In addition, you will procure and disperse evidence-based and best practice resources and connect to IDOH subject matter experts

    Salary Statement:

    The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

     

    A Day in the Life:

    The essential functions of this role are as follows:

    + Assess current public health issues related to a program area.

    + Maintain an effective liaison and referral system between the agency, local health departments, health clinics and other service providers.

    + Direct the development of public health programs, policies and procedure manuals.

    + Manage a grant or budget for a specific public health program allocating resources and determining expenditures.

    + Collect and analyze relevant program data and makes available to state and local agencies.

    This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

    What You'll Need for Success:

    The ideal candidate in this role should have 5+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.

     

    Completion of relevant educational degree(s) may substitute for equivalent years of experience.

     

    + Specialized knowledge in program subject matter (e.g., theories, principles, practices, laws, strategies) obtained through experience and/or education, preferably related to public health but not required

    + Working knowledge of the organization and function of state and local partners.

    + Working knowledge of program planning and implementation techniques.

    + Effective communication skills.

    + Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other local, state and federal agency staff.

    + Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Work is broad in scope involving complex program elements that require independent decision-making. Work involves the development of new policies and procedures, as well as an assessment of current policies and procedures. Guidelines are established, but require broad interpretation and judgment in application and implementation.
