    Job Title: Mold Set-Up Technician

    Job Description

    Under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for setting up injection and blow molding machines as well as performing maintenance tasks. This role is crucial to ensure the efficient shaping of plastics according to specifications.

    Responsibilities

    + Set up and operate injection and blow molding machines to shape plastics.

    + Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery.

    + Adjust machine settings to complete mold setup tasks accurately and in a timely manner.

    + Install and remove dies in machines using clamps, bolts, and hand tools according to work order specifications.

    + Complete all necessary paperwork, including cycle time and set-up sheets, with precision and timeliness.

    + Set up molds and cycle into specifications within a reasonable time frame.

    + Troubleshoot minor problems with basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.

    + Understand materials and cycles, explaining why different materials require different cycles.

    + Make appropriate adjustments to machines when production is not meeting specifications.

    + Properly shut down and start up machines.

    + Clean and perform preventive maintenance on molds and tooling as required.

    + Maintain the cleanliness and operational condition of machines.

    + Operate forklifts as needed.

    Essential Skills

    + 2+ years of experience within the plastics industry.

    + Experience in molding set up and preventative maintenance.

    + Mechanical troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment.

    + Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

    + Proficiency in reading schematics and blueprints.

    + Demonstrated skills in maintenance and troubleshooting involving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and automated equipment.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High school diploma or equivalent preferred; 5+ years of experience in a maintenance role is advantageous.

    + Some post-secondary education preferred, such as technical or vocational education.

    + Basic math, computer, and organizational skills.

    Work in a flexible packaging company serving industries worldwide, specializing in plastic extrusion for products like shampoo and lotion bottles. The facility spans 90,000 sq feet, housing 15 extrusion lines and 2 labeling lines with mostly mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic-driven machines.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, Illinois.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
