Job Title: Production Machine Operator
Job Description
As a Production Machine Operator, you will have the opportunity to work with various types of machinery, including Wire Drawing Machines, Cutting & Straightening Lines, and Coil Handlers. These machines are instrumental in producing custom alloys, non-standard diameters, and specialty mechanical properties efficiently. You will be responsible for operating production machinery according to established procedures, ensuring quality and consistency in production output, and performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
+ Operate production machinery according to established procedures.
+ Start and adjust machines to regulate speed, temperature, and other settings.
+ Monitor production output to ensure quality and consistency.
+ Record production data using computerized or manual systems.
+ Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on machines.
+ Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in general production and labor.
+ Proficiency with hand and power tools.
+ Familiarity with metal fabrication, cutting metal, and wire feed.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
+ Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with forklift operation and construction.
+ Ability to load and operate machines efficiently.
+ Knowledge of assembly processes and production tools.

Work Environment
The work environment includes a 300,000 sq. ft. facility with advanced machinery for bar and wire processing. The facility is clean and organized, featuring designated zones for drawing, annealing, cutting, and finishing. We utilize high-tech equipment, such as 'The Gillette' back die shaver and 'The Diablo' batch furnace, with a strong emphasis on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. Shift hours include a second shift from 3pm to 11pm with a $0.50/hour shift differential, and a third shift from 11pm to 7am with a $1/hour shift differential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Freeport, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $22.50/hr.
