    Job Title: Forklift Operator

    Job Description

    As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for efficiently pulling orders for shipment to customers. Your tasks will include managing Direct Ship Ports, Truck Load Reports, and other shipping functions as trained and required. You will move parts from the Market Area to Assembly Lines and from lines to Finished Goods, supply Presses with containers, and transport stampings to the Market Area. Additionally, you will move trailers with a switcher truck as needed.

    Responsibilities

    + Observe and follow all safety rules and regulations.

    + Maintain a satisfactory work area through the implementation of 5S.

    + Conduct daily safety checks for tow motor start-up.

    + Perform dock/platform inspections before use and engage dock locks before entering trailers.

    + Follow tow motor refueling procedures at all times.

    + Inspect racks for damage during unloading and clean old labels from empty racks.

    + Ensure shipments are free from damaged or improperly adjusted racks.

    + Verify that parts do not protrude above racks before moving them.

    + Inspect trailers before loading for any hazardous items.

    + Pack service parts to prevent damage during transportation and follow packaging instructions.

    + Ensure bar code labels are properly attached to racks and in good condition for scanning.

    + Make sure HOLD tags are moved to the appropriate HOLD or REWORK area.

    + Pull parts from stock in FIFO order for shipment staging.

    + Maintain proper flow of press and small parts Kanban.

    + Support company goals and provide input for reducing line downtime from material handling issues.

    + Learn and practice proper material handling functions.

    + Report production activities accurately.

    + Adhere to EH Board rules and fixed location compliance.

    + Lead by example in attendance, quality, and accountability.

    + Perform other assignments as deemed necessary by management.

    Essential Skills

    + 3-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

    + Experience with forklifts, picking, RF scanners, packing, and tow motor operations.

    + Ability to lift 50 lbs without mechanical assistance.

    + Good basic math knowledge.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    + Excellent organizational and coordination skills.

    + Completion of tow motor training and certification prior to job move.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

    + Experience in material handling, loading, shipping and receiving, and order picking.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment is an automotive manufacturing setting with shifts primarily from 3:00 pm to 1:45 am. The role requires flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, Tennessee.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.85/hr.
