Job Title: Machine Operator - Bakery

Job Description

As a Machine Operator in the Bakery Department, you will be responsible for setting up, monitoring, and changing over food processing equipment to produce pizzas. You will operate mixing machines, filling machines, and baggers, and may switch between operating a mixer, filler, and grinding machine while working in teams of 3-4.

Responsibilities

+ Set up and monitor equipment on the production line, including mixing machines, fillers, ovens, presses, baggers, and cartoners.

+ Operate grinding machines by scooping cauliflower to produce a finer material for dough production.

+ Manage bagger operations by adjusting speed, temperature, smart scale weights, and vibration settings.

+ Read and interpret batch tickets to prepare dough, accurately weighing and adding specific amounts of raw materials and starches.

+ Operate tumblers as required to mix materials with specific starches and flours 2-3 days per week.

+ Perform visual and quality inspections to ensure product standards.

+ Use hand and power tools for basic repairs, and make necessary adjustments to equipment, clearing jams as needed.

+ Conduct sanitation tasks, including wiping down machinery and managing temperature, speed, and duration settings.

+ Lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Essential Skills

+ Experience working in a foods GMP environment.

+ Proficiency in machine operating, including making adjustments and clearing jams.

+ Familiarity with baggers, wrappers, films, cartoners, mixers, and fillers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ GMP experience.

+ Bilingual capabilities.

Work Environment

Work in a dynamic production floor within the toppings department, with colder environments on the toppings side and warmer on the bakery side. Join a team of around 100 people per shift, distinguished by helmet color. The facility is clean, organized, and smells like pizza. Production areas maintain temperatures between 40°F and 45°F. Workdays are Monday to Saturday, with mandatory Saturdays if scheduled. Safety shoes (slip-resistant) are required from day one. Activities include packing, stacking cases, sweeping work areas, lifting up to 50 lbs, and loading ingredients. Flexibility to work in different areas as needed is required. Dress code includes smocks, hair nets, beard nets, hearing protection, hard hats, safety glasses, and non-slick shoes. Jewelry is not permitted.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manteno, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
