The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track position as an Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor of Finance in the School of Finance to begin in August 2026.

Applicants need to submit an application letter, a current vita, evidence of teaching effectiveness, a research sample, and a list of references (minimum of three). Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. Job Summary
This is a non-tenure track position that may be filled at either the Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor level depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. The faculty member will teach undergraduate finance courses for BSBA core as well as major-specific courses for the BSBA in Finance. There are also opportunities to teach in the MBA program. Teaching professors maintain a 4-4 teaching load. An active research agenda demonstrated by scholarly publications and grant activity is required along with service activities within the school, college, university, and profession.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in finance. Teaching includes preparation of course materials such as syllabi, course content, homework assignments, and handouts; evaluation and grading of students’ class work, assignments, and papers; maintaining student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
+ Holds regularly scheduled office hours in order to assist students.
+ Maintains an active research stream demonstrated by scholarly publication, grant activity, and participation in relevant academic organizations and conferences.
+ Participates in service at a variety of levels, including school, college, and university.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in finance or a related field is required along with university-level teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
+ Specialized knowledge of finance as demonstrated through relevant graduate coursework and research.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Ability to teach effectively (both online and in traditional settings) at the university level.
+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from all backgrounds, programs, and colleges.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching experience (traditional lecture and online formats) is desired. All research specialties will be considered, but there is a preference for banking, investments, and financial markets.
