Overview
The Nurse Manager for the Delivery Room is responsible for leadership, management, and oversight of all nursing and support operations in the labor & delivery suite. Ensures safe, high-quality patient care during labor, birth, and immediate postpartum period; promotes staff development; ensures regulatory compliance; and maintains budgetary, staffing, and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight
Ensure safe, evidence-based care for laboring patients and newborns.
Collaborate with medical staff to manage patient care and emergencies.
Team Leadership
Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate nursing staff.
Support staff development and maintain high team performance.
Operations Management
Oversee daily unit operations and ensure appropriate staffing.
Manage budget, supplies, and compliance with hospital policies.
Quality & Safety
Monitor patient outcomes and lead quality improvement efforts.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory guidelines.
Patient & Family Support
Promote excellent patient experience during labor and delivery.
Address patient concerns and support family-centered care
Qualifications
+ Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; preferably Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or relevant field (or requirement to obtain one).
+ Licensure / Certification: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State. BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS; possibly Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification and/or fetal monitoring certification.
+ Experience: Several years of nursing experience in labor & delivery (including high-risk obstetrics), with at least 2‑5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
+ Skills / Competencies: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to make decisions under pressure; strong organizational and time management skills; proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
+ Other: Commitment to Catholic Health’s mission/values (e.g. compassion, respect, excellence); ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and be on on-call rotation if required.
Salary Range
USD $133,870.00 - USD $160,165.00 /Yr.
This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
