    Job Description:

    60% Assessment Planning and Coordination

    + Leads the design, implementation and coordination of assessment plans across Student Affairs departments.

    + Collaborates with departments to develop learning outcomes and measurable goals.

    + Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in Student Affairs’ practices, policies, and procedures and recommends changes based on assessment findings.

    + Designs and implements methods for tracking and managing a wide range of initiatives, priorities, and deliverables.

    + Develops and maintains an annual assessment calendar.

    + Updates the content of the Student Affairs Assessment website.

    + Collaborates with Analytics, Institutional Research, & Effectiveness (AIRE), Academic Success, and other agencies on shared projects, initiatives, and accreditation efforts.

    25% Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting

    + Collaborates with Student Affairs Communications on the planning, development, and completion of the Student Affairs Annual Impact Report.

    + Gathers data and strategic information that assists with programmatic assessment, strategic planning, and exploration and development of future Student Affairs priorities.

    + Develops standardized templates, policies, and procedures for internal and external reporting.

    + Assists with data analysis and presentation of assessment projects regularly conducted across Student Affairs departments.

    + Communicates progress via reports and presentations to internal and external audiences.

    10% Consultation and Capacity Building

    + Provides training and consultation to staff on assessment methods and processes, data interpretation, and reporting.

    + Develops resources and workshops to enhance staff assessment literacy.

    + Serves as a subject matter expert in Student Affairs assessment best practices.

    5% Other Related

    + Represents Student Affairs and the University at national conferences and workshops as appropriate.

    + Participates on relevant campus committees.

    + Assumes other responsibilities as designated by the Assistant Vice Provost and Vice Provost for Student Affairs.

    Required Qualifications:

    1. Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience.

    2. Previous experience with assessment design, including development of learning outcomes and data collection tools, as evidenced in application materials.

    3. Previous experience conducting basic data analysis, including interpreting survey results, summarizing findings, and identifying trends, as evidenced in application materials.

    4. Computer skills in a PC/Windows environment, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as demonstrated by application materials and previous experience.

    5. Previous work experience managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, as demonstrated by application materials and previous experience.

    6. Previous work experience that required excellent written communication and organizational skills, as demonstrated by application materials.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1. Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Educational Research, Program Evaluation, or a related field.

    2. Three years' experience in student affairs assessment, institutional research, or a related role in higher education.

    3. Previous work experience with assessment methodologies and best practices in a student development or co-curricular context, as evidenced in application materials.

    4. Previous work experience with data analysis software such as SPSS, R, Excel, or Tableau; and/or assessment platforms such as Campus Labs, Anthology, or Qualtrics, as shown in application materials.

    5. Previous work experience in translating data findings into meaningful insights for varying audiences, as shown in application materials.

    6. Previous work experience facilitating workshops or training sessions on assessment practices, as shown in application materials.

    7. Previous work experience working with regional accreditation standards and their implications for assessment and institutional effectiveness, as shown in application materials.

    8. Previous work experience that required the use of interpersonal and verbal communication skills as evidenced in application materials.

    Position Overview:

    The Student Affairs Assessment Coordinator is an unclassified position in the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Affairs. The coordinator partners across all Student Affairs departments to advance a culture of assessment and evidence with the goal of enhancing programmatic/operational outcomes and student learning in alignment with strategic priorities. The individual will enhance Student Affairs’ effectiveness by coordinating, developing, implementing, and managing assessment, evaluation, and planning processes; and by providing data analysis, program assessment, and support for all departments. This position requires a willingness to work with other campus partners and an ability to effectively interact with students, parents, and other community constituents.

     

    Student Affairs is the University's student services organization and provides services and programs that assist students in achieving their academic and personal goals. Student Affairs coordinates the development of these services and programs and serves as an advocate for student needs across the University community.
