    Director of Admissions, US

     

    The Director of Admissions plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing and managing the admissions function at Medforth Global Education (MGE), serving one of their Universities. This role ensures that prospective students receive an exceptional applicant experience from first inquiry through matriculation, while admissions processes remain efficient, compliant, and aligned with MGE’s enrollment strategies.

     

    The Director is responsible for developing and executing admissions strategies that may be tailored by region (US, Canada, or International) to meet market opportunities, program demands, and enrollment goals. This includes leading and managing Admissions Officers and Senior Admissions Officers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver accurate, student-centered advisement, concierge-level service, and proactive communication.

     

    The Director also partners closely with Recruitment, Financial Aid, Registrar, Bursar, and other University stakeholders to provide seamless support for applicants, reduce melt, and deliver a smooth transition to enrollment.

     

    This position also requires responsiveness and adaptability across regions. Depending on region (US, Canada, or International), additional duties may be assigned or specialized to meet the unique needs of applicants in that market.

     

    This position reports to the Executive Director of Admissions.

    Essential Functions

    Team Leadership & Development

     

    + Oversee and manage the admissions team, including direct supervision of Admissions Officers and/or Senior Admissions Officers.

    + Responsible for the onboarding, coaching, and ongoing training of new and current staff, focusing on admissions knowledge, talk tracks, compliance, and communication skills.

    + Inspire and motivate the team through continuous learning and professional development.

    + Provide coverage and ensure service continuity during staff absences or peak recruitment times.

     

    Applicant Experience & Advisement

     

    + Ensure that applicants and accepted students receive exceptional, student-centered service, including timely responses, proactive outreach, and individualized advisement.

    + Encourage team members to be readily available for Zoom meetings or phone calls to provide a personalized and “white glove” service experience.

    + Advise applicants on the University’s programs, curriculum, academic calendars, performance outcomes, financial considerations, and postgraduate opportunities.

    + Promote the University as a trusted pathway for qualified students to achieve their professional aspirations.

     

    Operational Oversight & Strategy

     

    + Develop and implement admissions strategies and workflows that align with regional market dynamics and institutional enrollment goals.

    + Monitor application trends; analyze data and statistical reports to inform yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency.

    + Regularly review admissions activities and processes to identify and implement improvements.

    + Maintain knowledge of the University’s admission policies to troubleshoot issues and answer frequently asked questions.

     

    Conversion & Accountability

     

    + Directly responsible for achieving individual goals, while also contributing to overall team goals through timely and accurate communication with applicants.

    + Own the conversion of assigned applicants from application submit to enrolled student, monitoring progress closely and escalating any concerns or barriers to admissions leadership.

     

    Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

     

    + Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure admissions strategies align with enrollment objectives and market opportunities.

    + Partner with other Directors of Admissions, the Executive Director of Admissions, and the Vice President of Global Admissions to maximize opportunities for enrollment and minimize melt.

    + Serve as a liaison to key University departments (Recruitment, Financial Aid, Registrar, Bursar, Student Services) to support the applicant journey.

    + Represent the University professionally with external constituents, referral partners, alumni, and prospective students.

    Other Duties

    + Provide coverage for admissions functions as needed to ensure uninterrupted service to applicants.

    + Perform other duties and special projects assigned by leadership.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

     

    + Strong leadership and coaching skills, with proven ability to manage and develop admissions staff.

    + Passion for student success and building meaningful applicant relationships.

    + Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

    + Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze reports and apply insights to improve performance.

    + Proficiency in CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and student information systems (Banner preferred).

    + Ability to work collaboratively across teams and regions, with flexibility to adjust strategies based on market needs.

    + Strong organizational skills; able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

    + 6–8 years of progressive experience in higher education admissions, recruitment, or enrollment management.

    + Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing admissions teams.

    + Familiarity with regional admissions markets (US, Canada, International) and international credential equivalencies preferred.

     

    Work Environment & Physical Demands

     

    + Professional, collaborative office environment with frequent use of computers, phones, and online communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Salesforce).

    + Ability to manage multiple time zones and adjust schedule to support international applicants.

     

    Hours & Travel

     

    + Standard work week: Full-Time. Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (Dependent on time zone for hours)

    + Flexibility required during peak admissions cycles, with occasional evenings and weekends.

    + Travel may be required for recruitment events, orientations, or regional team support.

     

    The anticipated salary range for the Director of Admissions, US is $95,000 to $120,000 per year. The final salary offered may vary and will be determined based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education of the successful candidate. This information is provided per NYS local law.
