Job Description:
DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR PRINCIPAL
General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking an experienced Security Infrastructure Support Database Administrator to support one of our federal customers on an enterprise cyber program in the DC metropolitan area. This hybrid position offers a combination of remote work and periodic on-site support and customer meetings. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting databases for IT systems within a hybrid infrastructure (on-premises and cloud environment) along with cybersecurity experience.
How You Will Make an Impact
+ Design, install, maintain, and support databases for IT systems.
+ Manage databases in a hybrid infrastructure environment (on-premises and cloud).
+ Ensure databases are secured according to best practices and compliance frameworks.
+ Provides support for correlating data feeds, which includes analyzing data feeds and logs to correlate data with known threats and incidents.
+ Builds, implements, and refines event correlation rules, logic, content, and analysis techniques that will enable SOC personnel to correlate events and security incidents with specific sources, such as individuals, threat actors, IT systems, devices, and IP addresses.
+ Performs correlation activities and trend analysis to discover attack patterns and assess the risks and potential exposure of assets.
+ Analyzes incoming data feeds and system logs and correlates the data with known cyber threats, incidents, and vulnerabilities.
+ Analyzes trends to identify attack patterns and assess risks posed to assets.
+ Develops and enhances correlation rules, logic, and analysis techniques for associating cybersecurity incidents with specific sources such as individuals, threat actors, IT systems and devices, and IP addresses.
+ Perform database upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
+ Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to integrate security measures and harden databases.
+ Monitor and resolve database performance issues.
+ Conduct regular security assessments and implement necessary improvements.
+ Provide detailed verbal and written communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as executive-level reporting.
+ Support, maintain, and upgrade common database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
+ Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks (FISMA, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-92, OMB M-21-31, CDM).
+ Work with third-party vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure secure and efficient database operations.
+ Stay current with emerging trends in database security and cloud services.
What You'll Need to Succeed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
+ 5+ years of experience in designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting databases for IT systems with a hybrid infrastructure (on-premises and cloud) environment.
+ 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity.
+ Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as executive-level reporting.
+ Familiarity with cloud security concepts, services, and operations (AWS, Azure, O365) including migration and security hardening related to databases.
+ Experience supporting, maintaining, and upgrading common database platforms in a hybrid environment.
+ Hands-on experience with federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks (FISMA, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-92, OMB M-21-31, CDM).
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities for identifying, addressing security issues, and resolving root causes.
+ Proven experience working with third-party vendors and cross-functional teams.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
+ Additional relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or database-specific certifications.
+ Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
+ Knowledge of automated database management and monitoring tools.
+ Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution for databases.
+ Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools related to database management.
+ Experience in the following areas: Windows and Linux environment familiarity; PERL; Java Scripting; Java; XML, JSON; PostgreSQL; Tomcat; HTML; AJAX; CSS

The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
