• Residential Security Technician-Low Voltage

    TEKsystems (Pittsburgh, PA)


    Overview:

    We are seeking a skilled technician to install and service security systems for residential and small business customers. This includes alarm systems, CCTV, card access, and fire alarms—many of which are wireless and IP-based. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently in the field.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Install residential and small business burglar and fire alarm systems.

    + Service and troubleshoot existing alarm systems.

    + Install card access systems and related components.

    + Run low-voltage cabling in existing residential structures.

    + Repair and upgrade window/door contacts, motion detectors, and smoke detectors.

    + Conduct pre-wiring and service calls as needed.

    Daily Duties:

    + Contact customers prior to scheduled installations to confirm appointments.

    + Follow schematic wiring diagrams and standard hook-up procedures.

    + Test system functionality and ensure proper connection to the monitoring center.

    + Read and interpret building, electrical, and sprinkler blueprints.

    + Coordinate with police and fire departments for emergency call setup and documentation.

    + Maintain a clean and safe work environment during and after installations.

    + Prepare installation estimates based on supervisor guidance.

    + Use materials efficiently to minimize waste.

    Required Skills:

    + Experience with security systems, alarms, CCTV, and Honeywell products.

    + Strong troubleshooting and installation skills.

    + Ability to read technical diagrams and blueprints.

    + Excellent customer service and communication skills.

    + Willingness to travel as needed.

    Experience Level:

    Intermediate

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr.
