    Employment Terms: This is a full-time, FLSA - exempt, benefited, position in the Economic Development Division that reports to the Vice President of Economic Development.

     

    Salary : $90,000/yr Commensurate with education and experience

     

    Schedule: 40-hours per week Monday – Friday at the Lawrenceville Campus, occasional Saturdays and Evenings. May occasionally work at the Alpharetta-North Fulton Campus. Flexibility is a must.

    Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 11214):

    Bachelor’s degree in a related field *and* Five (5) years of work experience in Economic Development .

    Preferred Qualifications:

    In lieu of five (5) years of work experience in Economic Development, five (5) years of experience in Continuing Education or Workforce Development will be accepted. In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in workforce development, curriculum development, and strategic relationship management. A Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation is highly desirable but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) implementation and its application within business and industry are also considered advantageous.

    Job Description Summary:

    An Executive Director of Workforce Development within the Economic Development Division is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and management of all continuing education programs. This role involves strategic planning, financial management, staff supervision, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations. The Executive Director also fosters relationships with community and industry partners, promoting the college's continuing education offerings and supporting student success

     

    Certain positions are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. Refusal to take the test or a positive result will lead to separation and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment.

     

    Additionally, for any employment offer that includes a required drug test, the test must be completed within 48 hours. Failure to comply will result in the offer being rescinded and a 2-year ineligibility period for state employment

    Duties/ Responsibilities

    Percentage of Time

     

    1. Plans and organizes the daily operation of the department to include some or all the following: continuing education, off campus activities, industrial projects, customized training;

    2. Promotes the continuing education program to public and private organizations in a professional manner

    3. Coordinates business and industry tours and guest speakers. Provides information on programs offered at the technical college

    4. Makes effective presentations to prospective companies seeking to relocate or expand their employment

    5. Ensures compliance with institutional accreditation criteria;

    6. Manages and oversees financial/budget operations of the department

    7. Monitors the activities of personnel to ensure compliance with TCSG policy manual, accreditation standards, and department policies

    8. Develops and/or assists with the development of policies and procedures and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the program

    9. Maintains knowledge of assigned program area and gives updates to management on services, operations, and projects

    10. Evaluates employees at scheduled intervals upon reviewing of all relevant information

    11. Regularly evaluating the effectiveness of programs, making adjustments as needed to ensure quality and relevance

    12. Maintains and stays up-to-date with policies, procedures, and state or federal laws that may impact department initiatives;

    14. Assists community leaders and partners with the recruitment of new businesses and the expansion of existing businesses within the service area

    21. Promotes, develops, provides instruction, and administers adult staff development and pre-employment training programs in a technical college or employer setting

    22. Develops and implements an education plan to ensure staff, space, and educational materials are adequate and comply with federal and state guidelines. Requests funds and approves expenditure of funds for economic development staff efforts
