The Fashion Design Program in the School of Design at Syracuse University is seeking a part-time faculty member for the Spring 2026 semester to teach a three-course in Contemporary Issues in Fashion.
This online synchronous course invites students to engage complex questions shaping the fashion industry today. We are particularly interested in candidates whose scholarship or creative practice explores the cultural politics of fashion, including (but not limited to):
+ Cultural appropriation and intellectual property
+ Gender, sexuality, and fashion’s role in identity-making
+ Indigenous, diasporic, and/or marginalized textile and dress practices
+ Sustainability, ethics, and global labor justice
The successful candidate will guide students in connecting theory to practice, using readings, case studies, and examples from contemporary media and cultural production. Applicants with a record of writing, research, or curatorial work at the intersection of fashion and cultural studies are strongly encouraged to apply.
