    Impact you'll make:

    The Test Engineer has technical ownership of assigned test program tasks including test rig related facility engineering projects. The Test Engineer shall use developed processes and tools to ensure test programs meet customer requirements (safety, quality, technical, schedule, cost) and fit within facility capabilities.

    Job Description

    Role & Responsibilities:

    + Responsible for the planning, preparation and satisfactory execution of test program assigned tasks, manufacturing support and field validation testing.

    + Understand and support test vehicle and facility capabilities, and collaborate with customers as needed, to design tests that can be achieved within facility capabilities or through feasible, approved extensions of lab capabilities.

    + May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.

    + Work closely with other test and facility engineers, technicians, data acquisition/controls team and trades to identify and implement betterments to test facilities and test rigs.

    + Project management of test related activities in support of the design and coordination of test rig and facility modifications, data acquisition set up, hardware installation, operations planning and test documentation.

    + Perform assigned periodic reviews of installations to ensure systems continue to meet design intent.

    + Deliver technical presentations at design reviews and other program reviews (safety reviews, red flag reviews, Tollgate reviews and similar). Track assigned action items in electronic reporting/tracking systems and maintain test record files and ISO compliance.

    + Broadens knowledge of own technical discipline to execute assignments.

    + Perform engineering analysis of test vehicle systems and their performance (stress analysis, thermodynamic analysis, sensitivity analyses, enthalpy calculations, over speed analyses and similar).

    + Establish work priorities consistent with Lab goals and objectives; compile team input and present to Lab Leadership. Ensure technical objectives are met. Drive schedule and support meeting financial test objectives.

    + Prepare and review test and test vehicle related documentation.

    + Provide technical guidance and work planning direction to crafts, contractors and technicians.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aero Engineering or related technical discipline.

    + Must be able to work 100% onsite in Schenectady, NY

    + This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

    + Knowledgeable in Unigraphics and/or AutoCAD

    + PLC Controls

    + Turbo machinery and/or mechanical GT/ST I&FS TA experience

     

    For purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, The base pay range for this position is $71,600.00 - $107,400.00 USD per year.

     

    The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 5% variable incentive performance bonus.

     

    *The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.

     

    This position will stay open on the career website until at least 10/17/25.
