    The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Home is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Four years of experience as a teacher, instructor, or counselor in a recreational program; OR

    A bachelor's degree in a rehabilitation, recreation, or therapy field, a physical education field, or psychology; OR

     

    Possession of certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in accordance with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    + Assist with the monthly Activities calendar. Create, plan, and follow through with new activities.

    + Get residents to and from activities

    + Decorating the entire facility for holidays and special events.

    + Take pictures of all events.
