About this Job

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Four years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
40% Supervises and evaluates performance of subordinates at the dam, spillway, powerhouse, and related facilities located on the Toledo Bend Project, including j journeyman-level carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, mechanic, and other maintenance work. Approves leave requests, directs daily activities by assigning daily tasks to subordinates, monitors daily tasks, and provides limited administrative functions such as preparing maintenance reports, maintaining lake level spreadsheets, and assisting the Engineer during a spill by overseeing the operation of the spillway gates. Assigns and monitors daily activities to subordinates.
20% Inspects buildings, grounds, and equipment to determine the need for various types of repairs or maintenance work and supervises the repairs as well as the servicing and repair of lawn equipment, mechanical equipment, dozers, vehicles, etc.
20% Inspects work in progress and upon completion for compliance with standards. Makes estimates of the cost of labor and materials and requisitions supplies and equipment through the purchasing process.
15% Makes sketches of proposed changes to be made in the renovation of buildings and makes assignments of subordinates or crews providing the renovation and a variety of other maintenance, construction or repair.
5% All other duties as assigned.

Appointment Type: Probational
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule:Work hours are 6:30 am- 5:00 pm, Monday- Thursday
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
