    Description

    Qualified candidates will be invited to an in-person selection process, which includes a clinical written exam, practical scenario, and physical agility assessment. This will take place on either November 4th or November 5th.

     

    Candidates who successfully complete this phase will be scheduled for an in-person interview on November 7th or November 10th.

     

    Those advancing beyond the interview stage will be scheduled for a virtual interview, with dates provided upon notification of advancement.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Effective Supervision :

    + Provide clear guidelines and expectations for EMTs under your supervision.

    + Regularly check in with EMTs, offer support, and address any concerns promptly.

    + Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

    Medical Care and Protocols :

    + Stay up-to-date with medical protocols and guidelines.

    + Ensure that EMTs follow established procedures for patient care.

    + Encourage continuous learning and professional development.

    Record Keeping :

    + Emphasize accurate and legible record-keeping.

    + Train EMTs on proper documentation techniques.

    + Regularly review run reports, incident reports, and information sheets.

    Vehicle Maintenance :

    + Regularly inspect emergency vehicles.

    + Ensure all fluids (fuel, oil, etc.) are at the proper level.

    + Address any maintenance issues promptly.

    Safe Driving Practices :

    + Set an example by driving the assigned vehicle safely and obeying traffic laws.

    + Remind EMTs of safe driving practices during emergencies.

    Equipment Management:

    + Regularly check and maintain all equipment.

    + Keep the assigned vehicle clean and organized.

    + Replace any missing or damaged items promptly.

    Station Duties:

    + Fulfill station duties as assigned (e.g., restocking supplies, cleaning).

    + Encourage teamwork and cooperation among EMTs.

    Continuing Education:

    + Participate in refresher training programs.

    + Encourage EMTs to attend relevant workshops and courses.

     

    Education, Experience, Licensing

    Certifications:

    + Current Florida State Paramedic certification or National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification.

    + Valid Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider cards by hire date.

    Driving and Vehicle Operation:

    + Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

    + Completion of a 16-hour Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC) within 30 days of hire.

    + Adherence to County policies and procedures regarding driving County vehicles.

    Medical Skills and Physical Abilities:

    + Ability to lift, carry, and move emergency medical equipment.

    + Proper body mechanics for patient lifting.

    + Proficiency in administering medical and rescue procedures.

    + Familiarity with medical and rescue equipment usage.

    Patient Transport:

    + Capability to move patients using immobilization devices or stretchers.

    + Transfer stretcher from ambulance to receiving facility.

    Additional Skills:

    + Computer proficiency.

    + Understanding of Lee County Common Treatment Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual.

    Clinical and Operational Competency :

    + To work in Lee County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), you’ll need to demonstrate and maintain clinical and operational competency. This involves passing credentialing tests.

    + These tests ensure that you’re well-prepared to provide emergency medical care and excellent customer service.

    Computer Knowledge :

    + You’ll need computer knowledge to operate the Mobile Data Computer (MDC) and other assigned equipment. Familiarity with technology is essential for efficient communication and data management.
