Improvement Specialist - Stroke

Join a dynamic team dedicated to advancing stroke care and driving clinical excellence. As an Improvement Specialist, you'll lead stroke-related initiatives while supporting broader quality improvement efforts across the organization. This role blends hands-on clinical collaboration with strategic project leadership to deliver the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead and coordinate stroke program initiatives, including policy reviews, process improvement, and data tracking.
+ Attend in-house stroke codes to identify and resolve process breakdowns.
+ Collaborate with inpatient services (ED, ICU, nursing units) and medical staff (physicians, APPs, fellows) to address care delivery issues.
+ Educate EMS teams on stroke field assessment priorities and support staff training on stroke protocols.
+ Roll out process changes and maintain documentation for site surveys and regulatory readiness.
+ Partner with the Stroke Champion and Medical Director to update annual program goals and process flow documents.
+ Support multidisciplinary teams in designing and implementing quality improvement projects across departments.
+ Facilitate clinical design meetings, coach team members, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
+ Collect and present data to evaluate performance and guide redesign efforts.
+ Promote a culture of continuous improvement with patient care at the center of every initiative.
+ Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Business Administration or related field required at time of hire/transfer, Master's degree in Business Administration preferred.
+ 5 years of related experience required Knowledge of information systems and process improvement techniques.
+ Must be able to demonstrate skills to understand and interpret data
+ Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
+ Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
+ Exemplary critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care. Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others.
+ Mobility and visual manual dexterity.
+ Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:-UPMC approved national certification preferred.-NIH Stroke Scale and Modified Rankin Score certifications are required within 3 months of hire-Act 34
