Data, Analytics, and AI empowers business partners across Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG) to make impactful decisions by leveraging data, analytics, business products, and AI/ML to enable fast, targeted actions in rapidly evolving business contexts.

    Position Overview

    The Data and Analytics Lead for Population Health will be responsible for developing and executing the data analytics and measurement strategy for the Population Health Center of Excellence (CoE).

     

    This senior role will report to the Executive Director, Functional Insights & Analytics, and work closely with the VP Head of Population Health, serving as a critical connection between enterprise data and analytics capabilities and Population Health priorities. The role includes accountability for leading a small team of direct and indirect reports in defining, assessing, and helping to communicate Population Health impact, supporting initiative design, business case development and resource allocation, and leadership decision-making across the enterprise.

     

    The Data and Analytics lead will oversee a team that ensures data quality, consistency and reliability, develops data products (e.g., dashboards, models, etc.), and tracks progress toward Population Health goals. The role will partner with DDA colleagues and cross-functional teams in Marketing, Customer Engagement, US Medical, and Public Affairs & Access to support their execution of Population Health priorities.

     

    Key Job Responsibilities

    Strategic Alignment & Leadership

    + Define and lead the enterprise-wide analytics and measurement strategy for Population Health.

    + Translate Population Health priorities into actionable frameworks, metrics, and reporting approaches.

    + Serve as senior advisor on data-driven insights, guiding Population Health leadership in program design, business case development and resource allocation, and enterprise decision-making.

    + Ensure consistent, high-quality approaches to defining metrics, managing data integrity, and reporting outcomes across initiatives.

    + Represent Population Health analytics externally, benchmarking against industry standards and integrating best practices from partnerships (e.g., Truveta, Komodo).

    Insights and analytics product development

    + Lead the design and delivery of data and analytics products (e.g., dashboards, models) that support Population Health priorities and goals. Ensure products are adopted and applied effectively.

    + Integrate disparate and complex data sources (e.g., claims, EMR, registries) into data products to deliver insights and track progress.

    + Translate analytics into clear, compelling insights and narratives for diverse stakeholders (executives, field teams, policymakers, advocacy partners).

    + Oversee testing and adoption of innovative metrics and methodologies (e.g., advanced statistics, patient experience measures).

    + Drive adoption of innovative methodologies (e.g., advanced analytics, patient experience measures).

    + Collaborate with DDA colleagues and cross-functional partners (Marketing, Customer Engagement, US Medical, Public Affairs & Access, and DDA) to embed Population Health insights into enterprise strategies and operations.

    Team building, development and continuous improvement

    + Oversee and mentor a small team of direct and indirect reports, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and impact.

    + Provide coaching, professional development, and growth opportunities to build analytics leadership capability within the team.

    + Establish clear performance expectations in line with DDA frameworks, fostering a high-performance team culture.

    + Champion collaboration across teams, ensuring Population Health analytics supports shared enterprise priorities.

    + Continuously assess and evolve team processes, tools, and skills to stay current with emerging data science and measurement practices.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications & Experience

    + Advanced degree in Epidemiology, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.

    + 12+ years experience in healthcare analytics, population health measurement, or related sectors.

    + 8+ years of people management experience.

    + Proven track record of leading analytics teams in complex, matrixed settings.

    + Strong knowledge of real-world data sources (claims, EMR, registries) and their application to Population health.

    + Demonstrated ability to translate analytics into insights that guide program design, business case development, resource allocation, and enterprise decision-making.

    + Skilled communicator with experience presenting complex insights to senior leaders to drive alignment across functions.

    + Proven success collaborating with cross-functional partners (e.g., Medical, Marketing, Customer Engagement, etc.) to integrate analytics into enterprise strategies.

    + Working knowledge of analytics tools (e.g., SQL, R/Python, Tableau, Power BI), with knowledge of emerging methodologies in advanced analytics (e.g., machine learning, NLP, predictive modeling) and their application to Population Health.

    + Experience with data governance, privacy, and compliance considerations in healthcare analytics.

    + Strong financial acumen and the skillset to manage budgets and tactical plans.

    Additional Desired Qualifications & Experience

    + Ability to influence adoption of analytics products and frameworks across diverse stakeholders.

    + Experience with Public Health topics.

    + Experience using measurement and analytics to guide initiative refinement and prove impact.

    + Financial acumen to assess ROI and guide resource allocation for population health initiatives.

    + Experience engaging with external partners (data providers, coalitions, academic or advocacy organizations) to enhance analytic capabilities and benchmarks.

    Location

    + This position is based in South San Francisco, CA, with possibility for remote work.

    + Relocation assistance is not available at this time.

     

    _The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $202,400 - 375,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below._
