Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Avionics Systems Engineer to lead the integration of avionics subsystems for space vehicles. This position focuses on system integration and program management, not design work. You will collaborate across multiple organizations, resolve technical gaps, and ensure cost and schedule adherence while supporting design reviews and requirements verification.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Lead integration of avionics subsystems
• Identify technical gaps and issues, and develop solutions that align with cost and schedule constraints.
• Work closely with stakeholders to gain buy-in on technical decisions and agreements.
• Support design reviews, requirements verification, and schedule management.
• Communicate confidently with Program Managers to explain issues and propose solutions.
• Ensure cost containment and schedule adherence across projects.
Collaborate with multiple teams, including NASA engineering groups, contractors, and commercial partners (e.g., SpaceX, Northrop Grumman).
Internal Notes
• Supporting NASA’s SPEAC Program under the Gateway initiative, which includes living quarters, labs, and docking ports.
• This team is 100% focused on human space flight.
Reason for Opening: The HALO Project Office is developing a Lunar Space Station to orbit the Moon. Previously, Northrop Grumman handled much of the integration work. NASA has taken back some responsibilities, creating gaps that need to be filled by this role.
Contract Type: Contract-to-Hire (12 months)
Schedule: 5 days onsite
