Job Description
Looking for a hands-on SQL Server engineer to support mission-critical healthcare systems. You’ll own data cleanup and data engineering workflows, tune complex T-SQL/stored procedures, and resolve production issues that impact clinicians and members.
What you’ll do
• Data cleanup / quality: Build repeatable scripts and jobs for de-duplication, referential integrity fixes, backfills, and drift remediation with strong audit trails.
• Pipelines & jobs: Develop/maintain SSIS Packages, SQL Agent jobs, scheduling, monitoring, and alerting.
• Production support: Triage and resolve SQL/database incidents (performance, deadlocks, blocking, failed jobs), drive MTTR down, and prevent recurrences.
• SQL performance tuning: Analyze execution plans, reshape queries, optimize indexes/partitioning, parameter sniffing mitigation, statistics strategies, and plan cache hygiene.
• Complex T-SQL & stored procedures: Design, refactor, and harden SPs, functions, views, and complex queries across SQL Server 2016 and 2019.
• Release & change support: Participate in deployments, hotfixes, and post-release validation; uphold change controls and rollback plans.
• Observability & RCA: Use logs/metrics/traces (Splunk/Dynatrace or similar) to pinpoint root causes; publish clear RCAs and preventive actions.
• Security & compliance: Handle PHI/PII responsibly;
• Collaboration: Partner with app teams, DBAs, SRE/DevOps, and Operations; communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.

Skills and Requirements
• 5+ years working with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 & 2019) in production.
• Strong T-SQL expertise: complex joins, window functions, CTEs, temp tables vs. table variables, error handling/transactions.
• Proven performance tuning: execution plans, Query Store, Extended Events, wait statistics, indexing strategies, partitioning.
• Experience building and maintaining stored procedures and high-throughput data processes.
• Hands-on with SSIS, SQL Agent, and job orchestration.
• Scripting for automation
• Comfortable in a Prod Support/on-call environment with tight SLAs. • Healthcare data context, payer/provider workflows.
• Exposure to CI/CD (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions/Jenkins), Git, and Infrastructure basics (Windows Server, Kubernetes/Docker/AWS/Azure).
• Experience with CDC (Change Data Capture) or Debezium-style pipelines.
