    Job Description Summary

    This role is focused on providing manufacturing support and guidance to the Advance Mechanical Design team to ensure the manufacturability of new designs for GE Aerospace’s next generation of products. In this role you will be embedded with the design engineering team to ensure the design intent and tolerances offer a balance of performance and producibility. You will apply engineering concepts to design and drafting to eliminate future manufacturing issues. Seeking a manufacturing engineer with the ability to influence through a changing product mix to meet functional, business, and broad company objectives.

     

    Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

     

    The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

    Roles and Responsibilities

     

    The Advanced Lead Producibility & Manufacturing Engineer will be accountable for functional, manufacturing, and broad company objectives. In this role you will contribute to technology development, drive Flight Deck culture, manage manufacturing issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and be involved in both short and long-term planning to ensure the on time delivery of new technologies.

     

    + Provide technical direction to a design module team for the RISE program, a revolutionary new engine concept with significant business impact, using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.

    + Provide manufacturing consultation on manufacturing practices and standards, including initial development needs to aid in key strategic decisions.

    + Participate in cross-functional team meetings including design engineering, quality, materials and manufacturing with a goal of defining requirements for new designs.

    + Assist design engineers and manufacturing engineers in aligning drawing requirements with manufacturing best practices and standard work.

    + Work collaboratively with Design and Systems Engineering teams to formulate technical solutions that align with long term business objectives.

    + Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical, program and design reviews to assure a quality product will be able to be delivered.

    + Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions.

    + Partner with Design Boards, Manufacturing pyramids and TRL owners to industrialize design and technologies.

    + Develop standard work for the implementation of new technologies and processes related to manufacturing of components.

    + Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

    + Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and a FLIGHT DECK mentality within the manufacturing organization.

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited College/University with a minimum of 3 years of relevant Manufacturing and / or Engineering experience OR a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of relevant Manufacturing and / or Engineering experience

    Desired Characteristics

    + Experience in development hardware ownership and manufacturing of high-precision, turbomachinery components.

    + Aptitude in mechanical design, ability to review drawings, understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and Product Definition, including reading and interpreting drawings.

    + Experience with Aerospace manufacturing specifications

    + Working experience with GE Aerospace quality system

    + Influencing skills, including guiding others without a direct reporting relationship.

    + Ability to execute with new and unclear requirements & goals

    + Ability to work in a matrix organization

    + Ability to effectively manage changing and conflicting priorities and resolve appropriately

    + Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions

    + Strong interpersonal skills.

    + Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively

    + Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker

    + Strong oral and written communication skills

    + Familiarity with the GE Aerospace quality system and ability to leverage FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace's proprietary LEAN operating model.
