The Division of Hospitalist Medicine in partnership with Oncology, is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (NPs and/or PAs) with experience in complex medical management and desire to learn solid oncology to join their team at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
The Hospitalist Advanced Practice Providers (APP) are responsible for medical and solid oncology inpatient services. You will work with the elite team of committed hospitalists to care for the complex medical patients. On the solid oncology team, you will partner with the oncologists and palliative care specialists to provide specialized care for patients with solid malignancies.
You will utilize your education and experience to maximize medical-oncology care in this exciting, fast-paced environment. You will be delivering care for patients experiencing complications from chemotherapy and advanced diseases. Outside of the clinical environment, APP’s will be encouraged to participate in quality improvement projects, grow through professional committee involvement and exemplify evidence-based care.
In addition, the team offers comprehensive care in two distinct clinical settings. One site is the Symptom Management Clinic that provides same-day care for Penn patients requiring medical infusion for symptom relief. The second site is a Medicine Consult Service. This is a service that offers consultative medical support to the behavioral health units at HUP Cedar Campus.
The Advanced Practice Provider, while providing quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff and other members of the care team, performs histories, physicals, and procedures as outlined in privilege agreement. Also participates in research as appropriate, ensures regulatory compliance, document care according to standards, and prescribes in accordance with the collaborative agreement and State regulations.
Credentials:
+ Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Masters Physician Assistant required
+ Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Pennsylvania State license, active and in good standing at time of hire
+ Registered Nurse - PA (Required if Acute Care Nurse Practitioner)
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
+ BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association
+ Prescriptive Authority (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
+ Master of Arts or Science (Required)
+ Education Specialization: Master's Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Nursing or master's prepared Physician Assistant
+ Oncology experience as a Nurse or as a Provider is preferred.
+ At least 2 years of inpatient advanced practice experience preferred.
+ Outpatient experience will be considered with strong references and evidence of autonomous practice in previous settings.
+ The CRNP must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board.
