    About the role

     

    The Rail Commercial Lead is responsible for managing commercial and service relationships with North American rail freight and railcar equipment providers. This role is part of a skilled commercial and technical team that works closely with BP Rail Businesses across the Americas.

     

    BP currently operates a portfolio of approximately 8,500 railcars, which support the transportation of commodities such as NGLs, Crude Oil, Refinery By-products, Biofuels, and Biofuel feedstocks. You’ll work with the following teams - Product Solutions, Refinery Optimization/Operations, Trading and Shipping, HSSE, Procurement, Aviation.

    Key accountabilities

    + Manage relationships and negotiations with North American Rail Freight Providers, including Class 1 and Shortline railroads.

    + Oversee partnerships with Railcar Lessors to optimise fleet value across products and bp businesses for short- and long-term growth.

    + Support rail fleet sizing decisions based on changing business needs and railroad service levels.

    + Foster collaboration with internal stakeholders to grow rail shipments and convert spot opportunities into longer-term growth.

    + Advise BP entities on rail business development, cost reduction, and service improvement opportunities.

    + Work with Safety, Risk, Operations, Procurement, and support teams to address issues and implement solutions.

    + Bachelor’s degree

    Desired Qualifications:

    + 3-5 years of commercial negotiation experience; preferably with North American railroads and railcar lessors

    + Tankcar fleet management experience both general purpose and pressure cars

    + Experience in Oil, Gas, Biofuels or similar industry

    How much do we pay (Base)? ($116,000 – $166,000) *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

     

    This position is eligible for US Benefits – Core. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full time employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
