Director, Communications, Global - Health & Wellness
As Director, Communications, Global - Health & Wellness, you will shape how Walmart tells its health and wellness story. You’ll lead integrated communications strategies that strengthen Walmart’s reputation as a trusted healthcare partner. From pharmacies and vision centers to clinical services, research, and wellness innovation, you’ll drive storytelling that showcases Walmart’s scale, innovation, and impact on community health.

The Health & Wellness Communications team amplifies Walmart’s live better mission by creating awareness of the products, services, and associates that empower healthier lives. We are connectors, storytellers, and reputation stewards – partnering across Corporate Affairs, business units, clinical teams, and external stakeholders to deliver proactive storytelling, safeguard Walmart’s reputation, and position the company as a leader in accessible, affordable healthcare.
What you'll do...
Strategic Communications & Planning
+ Develop and execute proactive communications strategies that align with Walmart’s Health & Wellness priorities and enterprise reputation goals.
+ Partner with leadership to position Walmart as a trusted and innovative healthcare partner for customers, patients, and communities.
+ Identify emerging health and wellness trends and turn insights into communications opportunities.
Storytelling & Content Development
+ Create clear, compelling narratives, press releases, executive remarks, blogs, and social content that simplify complex health topics for diverse audiences.
+ Build thought leadership platforms for executives and clinical leaders to showcase Walmart’s role in shaping the future of healthcare.
+ Lead ongoing storytelling to highlight Walmart associates, innovations, and impact in Health & Wellness.
Media Relations & External Engagement
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with reporters, editors, and influencers in health, retail, business, and consumer media.
+ Proactively pitch stories that highlight Walmart’s healthcare role and respond to inquiries with accuracy, speed, and transparency.
+ Prepare executives for media interviews, panel discussions, and industry events.
Cross-Functional Partnership
+ Collaborate across Corporate Affairs (including Government Relations, ESG, Merchandising, and Benefits), Health & Wellness business leaders, and external partners to align and amplify messaging.
+ Serve as a strategic advisor to leaders, providing effective communications counsel on high-visibility initiatives.
Crisis & Issues Management
+ Develop and execute communications strategies for health-related issues, including public health events, reputational risks, and regulatory matters.
+ Monitor the external landscape and advise on proactive reputation protection measures.
Measurement & Optimization
+ Use data, analytics, and audience insights to evaluate campaign performance and inform future strategies.
+ Report regularly to senior leadership on communications activities, outcomes, and impact on Walmart’s reputation in Health & Wellness.
What You’ll Bring
+ Experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism, or healthcare communications.
+ Proven success in media relations, with experience shaping narratives and securing top-tier coverage.
+ Exceptional writing and storytelling skills across multiple formats and platforms.
+ Digital fluency, with experience using AI, emerging platforms, and analytics tools to extend reach and engagement.
+ Strong crisis communications capability, with composure and clarity under pressure.
+ Collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset; thrives in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
+ Executive presence with the ability to advise senior leaders and represent Walmart with credibility.
+ A curious, forward-thinking approach to elevating storytelling and strengthening Walmart’s reputation.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.
Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to a specific plan or program terms.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field and 5 years’ experience in public relations, communications, or relevant area OR 7 years’ experience in public relations, communications, or relevant area. 2 years’ supervisory experience or experience leading cross-functional teams.
