    In this position...

     

    You are leading the designs of hardware systems and components that will deliver the features and experiences that customers love. You’re expected to be a flexible people leader who can balance multiple activities in a rapidly changing, creative design environment. You’ll utilize a systems approach to manage the development of concepts, creation of 3D models and design hardware systems for our world-class vehicles.

     

    This is an Engineering Design / CAD Supervisor position, where product design expertise utilizing a systems approach is key. You’ll work in a collaborative environment with interfacing organizations to develop designs that can be procured and manufactured to develop products our customers will love.

     

    This role will have an early focus on quality, failure mode avoidance (FMA), and a mindset of “do only what matters” to bring the best products to life for our customers.     What you'll do...

     

    • Lead the development of key geometrical architectures that define the shape and functionality of a vehicle using 3D CAD, CAE, and physical prototypes.

    • Collaborate with Vehicle Architecture (VA) and Functional Engineering teams to ensure design requirements are available and met in support of GPDS engineering gateway timing.

    • Manage DPA evaluations in concert with the VA and Engineering teams.

    • Lead and support priority discussions with Engineering teams to ensure on-time delivery of the geometric models and drawings.

    • Ideate with engineers, designers, and other teams to create new solutions for automotive applications.

    • Problem-solve to find solutions that balance attributes with the product concept, business case, and other guiding principles.

    • Using a systems design approach, optimize a vehicle’s topology to manage and deliver efficient vehicle concepts.

     

    You'll have...

     

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

    • 10 + years of experience in Product Development

    • 5+ years of formal leadership experience

    • Strong grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals and simple mechanisms

    • Quality focused, knowledgeable in FMA tools and processes.

    • Experience in utilizing CAD tools and PLM

    • A clear communicator, highly motivated to exceed expectations in a constantly changing product landscape.

    • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

     

    Even better, you may have...

     

    • 1+ years of experience designing in Catia.

    • 3+ years of experience using TCE or other PLM.

    • 5+ years of experience in design & release engineering, vehicle systems, vehicle architecture, CAD/Engineering Design, or powertrain systems development.

    • Knowledgeable in design for manufacturing processes (injection molding, casting, etc.)

    • Hands on experience narrowing product scope and facilitating cross functional decisions on complex products.

    • Familiarity with world automotive regulations, consumer ratings, and major load cases that guide road vehicle product constraints.

    • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

    • Capability to use 3D CAD software as a collaborative tool.

    • Exemplary communication skills, highly collaborative and eager to participate in projects that transform the business.

    This position is a salary grade of Leadership Level 6.
