    Description

    The Emory Autism Center (EAC) invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Department

    of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Emory University School of Medicine beginning July 1,

    2026. The position is available for one-year with the possibility of renewal for a second year.

     

    This position will include training opportunities within the Emory Oaks program. Emory Oaks is a

    college autism support program designed for autistic students seeking their degree at Emory

    University. The Fellow will be tasked with providing Support Navigation services for Emory Oaks

    participants; Support Navigation refers to individualized coaching, mentoring, advising, and

    connecting, all conducted within a neurodiversity affirming framework. In addition to Support

     

    Navigation services, the Fellow may also be involved in social and group programming, Research and

     

    Evaluation, and other related aspects of Emory Oaks.

     

    There will be additional opportunities within the EAC Transition Services program (i.e., Quest) and

     

    School Based Consultation and Training (i.e., Monarch); likewise, there may be potential

    collaborations and opportunities with other programs and services at EAC that work with autistic

    adults. If commensurate with interests and opportunities, the Fellow will receive outstanding

    training in supports and services for transition-age autistic individuals and their families;

    school-based consultation and training; and an array of related skills. If desired and applicable,

     

    the Fellow will receive clinical supervision from experts in the field of autism and accrue

     

    supervised work hours towards professional licensure in Psychology.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    + Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career.

    + The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc.

    + Designs and evaluates experiments.

    + Develops new ideas that promote current research.

    + Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator.

    + May be responsible for operation of specific equipment.

    + May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff.

    + Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee.

    + The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available.

    + Appointments cannot exceed five years.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field.

    + Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills.

    + The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues.

    + Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Appropriate candidates will have obtained their doctoral degree in School Psychology, Clinical

    Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Special Education, or other related applied fields (e.g., social

     

    work, speech-language pathology, etc.). Strong experience in assessment and intervention with

     

    autistic individuals is required. Candidates should possess excellent scientific writing ability,

     

    strong oral communication skills, and outstanding interdisciplinary teamwork skills. Candidates

    with a background in working with autistic young adults and some experience with individual and

    group psychotherapy are preferred. Neurodivergent candidates are encouraged to apply.

    NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
