    The **Senior Product Engineer – New Product Development (NPD)** plays a key role in the design, development, and validation of next-generation [hydraulic/power transmission/mechanical] products. This position is responsible for leading product design efforts from concept through production launch, ensuring robust performance, manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with quality standards.

     

    The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with practical engineering judgment, project leadership, and a passion for innovation.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    + **Product Design & Development**

    + Lead the design and development of new [pump/motor/control/system] products, sub-systems, and components from concept through production.

    + Apply engineering principles to develop and validate designs that meet performance, cost, and reliability targets.

    + Create and manage detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and bills of material (BoMs).

    + Collaborate with simulation, test, manufacturing, and sourcing teams to ensure robust product performance and design-for-manufacture (DFM).

    + **Technical Leadership**

    + Serve as a subject matter expert in assigned product or technology area.

    + Guide junior engineers and designers through technical problem solving and design reviews.

    + Drive technical decisions and risk assessments using data-driven methods such as DFMEA, tolerance stack-up analysis, and root cause analysis.

    + **Project Execution**

    + Support or lead new product development projects within the Stage-Gate framework.

    + Develop and maintain design documentation, test plans, and validation reports.

    + Coordinate with program managers to ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones and prototypes.

    + Support manufacturing and operations during pilot builds, PPAP, and launch phases.

    + **Cross-Functional Collaboration**

    + Work closely with global engineering, supply chain, quality, and operations teams to optimize product design and cost.

    + Engage with customers to translate application requirements into technical specifications.

    + Participate in supplier design reviews and audits as required.

    + **Continuous Improvement & Innovation**

    + Identify and implement improvements in design methods, tools, and processes.

    + Contribute to intellectual property creation and technology roadmapping.

    + Stay current on emerging technologies, materials, and industry trends.

     

    What We're Looking For

    Required:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (Master’s preferred).

    + 5+ years of experience in product design and development (preferably in hydraulic, mechanical, or electro-mechanical systems).

    + Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. NX, Creo, or SolidWorks).

    + Experience with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Enovia, or Windchill).

    + Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFMEA.

    + Demonstrated ability to take concepts through full product development lifecycle.

    Preferred:

    + Experience with hydraulic pumps/motors, control systems, or precision machined components.

    + Familiarity with validation testing, data acquisition, and root cause analysis tools.

    + Working knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, casting, assembly).

    + Experience with Six Sigma or Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.

    + Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
