The Research Fellow will support two faculty members at BUSPH-Dr. Katrina Kezios (research on determinants of cognitive aging and dementia) and Dr. Margaret (Maggie) Lind (research on infectious disease prevention and treatment). This role is equally divided (50% effort with each faculty member), with responsibilities spanning both research programs.
The Research Fellow will
+ Coordinate study activities, including both logistical tasks (e.g., IRB/Human Subjects approval, scheduling, tracking milestones) and scientific tasks (e.g., manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and grant submissions).
+ Manage and monitor project progress, ensuring deliverables and timelines are met across multiple studies.
+ Provide support to and oversee the work of trainees (predoctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and research assistants) engaged in the projects.
+ Facilitate communication and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment of research goals.
+ Ideally contribute to data analysis, depending on the candidate's interests and skills.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful research in two distinct but complementary areas-aging and dementia, and infectious disease prevention-while building skills in research administration, project management, and scientific dissemination.
Essential functions:
+ Coordinate team activities on multiple projects, and lead and create agendas for meetings
+ Prepare documents related to research activities, including funding agency progress reports, study protocols, Data Use Agreements and other data governance, and IRB submissions
+ Monitor achievement of grant implementation milestones
+ Oversee, and lead whenever applicable, a growing research agenda
+ Assist with literature reviews, background research, and writing of grants and manuscripts, conference abstracts and other submissions
+ Perform other administrative duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested
Required Skills
Minimum Qualifications
+ A master's degree is required
+ Experience coordinating project activities
+ Strong organizational and communication skills, accuracy, and attention to detail, as well as a self-motivated work style, establish priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.
+ Excellent interpersonal, organizational, record-keeping, writing, and presentation skills.
+ Superior communication skills and experience in writing academic thesis or manuscripts
+ Able to make and carry out decisions independently and collaborate and manage partnerships with a range of departments and centers.
Additional Desired Qualifications
+ Experience with quantitative data analysis, including proficiency in R.
+ Ability to exercise initiative and judgment and demonstrate professionalism and flexibility.
+ Ability to manage multiple competing tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, as well as able to assume progressively more responsibility for project tasks and work independently without close supervision.
+ Someone comfortable asking questions and eager to learn.
Position Details
+ Desired start date: January 2026
+ Full-time: (40 hours/week)
+ Appointment duration: One year, renewable
+ Work arrangement: Hybrid
