Summary The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Pipefitter Supervisor. The Pipefitter Supervisor is located within our Engineering Service. Responsibilities The Pipefitter Supervisor duties include but are not limited to: Develops and manages preventive maintenance schedules. Coordinates safety and functional inspections. Oversees repairs and upgrades to all piping systems and infrastructure. Inspects work performed by Facilities Management Services and contractors to ensure proper installation and compliance with government specifications and codes. Stays abreast of the medical center accreditation standards, VHA directives, governing regulations to maintain the pipefitter shops' training programs, standard operating procedures, personnel competencies, medical center programs and policies. Serves as a Contractor Officer's Representative (COR) for projects related to the maintenance, and repair, of building finishes. Prepares requisitions and specifications for materials, writes service contract proposals for repairs or installations and forwards them to Facilities Management Service leadership as warranted. Observes all safety regulations; hazardous material handling and storage procedures in the performance of duties and enforces those regulations with all employees supervised. Fosters a positive work culture and builds support among team members for management's goals and policies. Consistently communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Work Schedule: M-F 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Position Description Title/PD#: Pipefitter Supervisor/PD944300 Physical Requirements: Incumbent is required to carry light to medium loads, using mechanical means for heavier loads. Works from ladders and scaffoldings, Requires manual coordination, agility, and good vision. Occasionally, the work requires working for extended periods of time in kneeling, stooping and other tiring body positions. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Preferred Experience: 8 years of journeyman level pipefitting work. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.
